How To Unlock The Paddock

As yourank up your tavern, you’ll unlock new features. After youmeet Scary the Scarecrowand learn how to garden, and after youspeak with the Spirit of the Forest, you’ll be prompted totalk to the merchantagain.

This time, it’s because there’s astrange mooing soundfrom the side of the tavern. Check it out andspeak with the cowyou find, who willtell you all about the paddockand its many uses.

The first step is toclear away the stumps in the paddockwith your axe. Once all the stumps are clear, you can start ranching!

How To Breed Animals

Themain purpose of the paddock is breeding animals, which can be used to make animal products and harvest meat. Breeding the animals requires havingtwo of the same animalin the paddock, along with water and barely.

The troughs on the paddock can hold up toten water and ten barley. Keeping them filled will ensure that the animals are happy and reproduce while you go about your day.

Check back often to refresh these supplies, otherwise you may find that you’re out and your animals haven’t been working hard.

When you check back later, you’ll findplenty of chickens or pigsin the paddock. You canbuy your first animalsfrom the merchant for the following costs:

There doesn’t seem to be a cap on how many animals will be in the paddock so long as you keep the water and feed filled.

To put animals in the paddock,drag and drop them from your inventoryto the outside of your menu. This will spawn the animals around you, allowing them to get to work.

How To Harvest Animal Products

Animal products will naturallyspawn in the paddockwhile you’re away, so long as the animals have food and water. Chickens will lay plenty of eggs, socheck back regularlyto collect them all.

Eggs will collect instacks of up to ten, so make sure there’s room in your inventory for all of them!

If you find that you havetoo many chickens or pigs, you can always downsize andadd a few meat dishesto your menu.Take your axeand be mercifully quick with dispatching the excess animals. Afterward,loot their bodies for meatand get cooking!
