One of the main selling points ofDragon Ball: Sparking Zerois that it has one of the biggest rosters ever in a fighting game, with over 182 playable characters if you include transformations and variations.
You might be surprised to learn that Sparking Zero doesn’t hand you all of these fighters as soon as you start the game, and actually makes you work quite hard for them. When you first start the game, you’ll be missing around 61 or so characters and forms on the roster, which means there’s a lot for you to get working on.
How Characters Are Unlocked
Before we get into the specific methods of unlocking every character in Sparking Zero, let’s break down some of the things you’ll need to do to access them. Most of the unlocks are found through beating missions and sagasin each of the Episode Battles. Doing this is how you’ll get most of the roster, so if you’re missing anyone it’s worth making sure you’ve completed everyone’s story mode.
Sparking Zero also offers some of its fighters asrewards for clearing Zen-Oh’s missions and beating Tournament battles and Bonus Battles. There are a few different tournaments to participate in and each of them comes with one specific fighter once you’ve cleared it for the first time. Beyond that, one of the rarest ways of unlocking characters is with a wish from Super Shenron.
Getting the seven Super Dragon Balls is a rare occurrence but you’ll need to do it at least twice to unlock some of the roster without spending a massive amount of money.
Speaking of money, the final way tounlock characters in Sparking Zero is by spending money in the shopand just outright buying them. This is the easiest way to get characters you want, although it seems that all of them are also unlockable by playing through different modes and missions.
It seems thatalmost every character who can be unlocked can also be purchased in the shop, so if you don’t want to dive into the single-player stuff, you can just go there. This guide will mainly attempt to stay away from that and list the specific unlock requirements outside of the shop. We’ll update the purchases into unlock requirements as they’re discovered.
Some of the characters listed below are all unlocked in one go, such as GT Goku comprising his base form alongside Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 3, and Super Saiyan 4. You’ll only need to unlock or purchase the one to get all of the forms.
