Quick Links
Right around the time you arrive at Virga Island in search for the Drakodios,Metaphor: ReFantazioopens up yet another opportunity for a brand-new Archetype. In fact, it’s a two-for-one deal; this is how you unlock Junah as a follower, too.
Indeed, it’s technically possible to play through the rest of the game with her as an ally, but not a follower. Needless to say, let’s not do that. Here’s how to get the “Save the Mourning Snakes” started, how to defeat its boss, and a link to our walkthrough on the dungeon itself, the Orbwise Path. Let’s get started!
How To Start “Save The Mourning Snakes”
By the time you’ve reachedVirga Island, aside quest markershould appear on any town hub map, specifically forJunah.
Since your party members will always hang out along the road somewhere in these locations, the marker will appear above Junah’s head as if she was any ol' NPC.
Conversing with her is enough to kickstart the quest, thoughyou will have to travel to Orbwise Path, meaningconsiderations must be made for the travel time.
We recommend completing this side questas soon as possible. Certainly, at leastbefore going to the Dragon Templethe second time(when it’s actually unlocked, not when the tree is blocking the route).
The Orbwise Path
As we tend togive dungeons their own specific guides, you can follow ours for the Orbwise Path through here. The guide coversall treasures, an overview of enemies, and more.
Reaching the end of the Orbwise Path, however, triggersa boss fight. Those would would prefer th explore the dungeon without a step-by-step can simply do so, and then read on; we want to at least make sureyou’re prepared for that fight.
Boss: Kokasadors
Kokasadorsshouldgo down swiftly for you. It hasrelatively little HP, but it comes withspecific conditions that can spell disaster if you don’t abide by them.
Repeatedly castBotra, or a strongerFirespell if you have it.
Masked Dancer
Back
UseInfernal Vortex, which is essentially the same as Botra, but with the added bonus of potentially inflictingBurn.
General
Front
UseShelter Formationon the first round toraise the team’s Defense. Thereafter, useFlame Vanguard.
You shouldn’t consider the above setup by any means mandatory. Rather, it’s built tobring down Kokasadors swiftly, and preventing any glaring weaknesses in your team’s layout while the creature’s still drawing breath.
Blizzaton
Single-target heavy Ice damage.
Additionally,it has the ability to OHKO anyone without a Defense buff later in the battle. The good news is, you’ll probably make short enough work of it that you’ll never see this.
Battle Strategy
We’re going to make quick work here, roasting this bird to a crisp. The idea is toraise everyone’s Defense on the first round, therebypreventing Kokasadors' ability to one-hit kill anyone without the buff. It’s unlikely you’ll see this, but let’s be safe.
Beyond that, it’s simple:Fire attacks galore,as well asSuper Energy Ray, which, while not a Fire-type attack, will do upwards of 1,000 damagein its own right. Getting all those Fire attacks in for Kokasadors' weakness willgive you extra turn iconsto make it all happen.
Completing “Save The Mourning Snakes”
The nice thing about “Save the Mourning Snakes” is thata conversation with Junah after the Kokasadors battle completes it automatically. There’s nothing else for it; you’re in the clear.
For your efforts, you’ll gainImaginationpoints. More importantly, theMasked DancerArchetype is now yours for the learning, and you caninitiate Junah’s Follower ranksnext time she’s aboard the Gauntler Runner en route to a new destination.
