As you research the alien planet of MASSAGE-2(A-B)b inSatisfactory, you’ll unlock new weapons to help you explore and combat hostile wildlife. After all, factory expansion isn’t all about building. Sometimes, you need a few explosions to pave the way for progress.

The Nobelisk Detonator provides those very explosions, allowing you to blast through enemies or unlock hidden areas. Below, we’ll take a look at how to research and unlock the Nobelisk Detonator, how to get every type of Nobelisk, and how to use this equipment.

How To Unlock The Nobelisk Detonator

The Nobelisk Detonator is unlocked through theSulfur research tree in the MAM. This research tree isunlocked the first time you find Sulfur, either from a small cluster or an ore node somewhere in the world. To unlock the Nobelisk Detonator research node in the tree, you’ll first need to complete these two research tasks.

You will then be able to research the Nobelisk Detonator, which also unlocks Nobelisks. This research node costs50 Black Powder, 100 Steel Pipes, and 200 Cables. Now, head over to theEquipment Workshop, and you can craft the Nobelisk Detonator using the following materials.

You will need to progress to at least theTier 3 MilestoneBasic Steel Productionto unlock the materials needed to research and craft the Nobelisk Detonator.

How To Unlock Every Nobelisk Type

There are several different Nobelisks you can use with the Detonator to create a variety of explosion types. Each type of Nobelisk needs to be unlocked separately in different MAM research trees, which are detailed below.

How To Use The Nobelisk Detonator

With the Nobelisk Detonator equipped, you canthrow a Nobelisk using left click. Holding left click for longerincreases the throw distance. The Nobelisk will thenstick to any surface it hits, where it will remain until you useright click to detonate it. you’re able to throwmultiple Nobelisks before detonating them all, but theycan’t be retrieved once thrown.

Pressing R will “reload” the Detonator, allowing you to throw another Nobelisk, whileholding R will let you select from available Nobelisk typesfrom your inventory.

Nobelisks can be used to kill enemies orblow up destructive rocks. These rocks look different from typical mountains and cliffs, havingvisible black cracks on themthat indicate they can be destroyed. Blowing these rocks up with a Nobelisk often reveals some sort of secret, like hidden Power Slugs or Mercer Spheres.
