Although I’m sure that most Kingdom Hearts fans, myself included,are mostly just hoping for news about the long-awaited fourth mainline entry, that’s not the only new game in the series that’s kept us waiting recently. The other bigmissingpiece is the latest Kingdom Hearts mobile game, Missing Link,which was announced alongside Kingdom Hearts 4 all the way back in 2022.
Although it hasn’treallybeen that long since Missing Link was announced,it was said to have a closed beta test that same year in 2022, before being pushed to 2023.We’ve had a few more tests since thenand even had signs that it was near release thanks to the website updating, but things have gone dark again andleft fans wondering where the heck it is once more.
Over the past few weeks, Kingdom Hearts fans have been looking for any kind of sign of life from Missing Link to no avail. That all changed yesterday, though,when Twitter user Waffles316 pointed out that the Union X Dark Road app has been mysteriously updatedout of nowhere with no obvious changes made to it.
This is interesting consideringUnion X Dark Road actually got delisted from app stores a couple of months ago, which many took to mean that Missing Link was nearly here and that it might absorb the content from those two games. That remains to be seen and might be unlikely, but the fact that the app is being worked on behind the scenes does suggest that something is happening.
When I played Missing Link’s last closed beta test,it had come a very long way since the first oneand seemed pretty close to releasing. That didn’t end up being the case, but it might be soon.
It’s not just the one notification either,as Twitter user Xeonzx2 confirmed that at least three notifications have popped up for the gameand that its storage size and data had been being changed around. It’s possible that it has nothing to do with Missing Link, but considering how long we’ve been waiting and how close it previously seemed to release, it might be a sign of things to come.
