Summary

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaiiwas just officially revealed byRyu Ga Gotoku Studio, but it turns out that someone actually leaked it months ago and ended up being ignored because of how unbelievable it is.

Even though it hasn’t been long at all sinceRGG Studio blessed us with the masterpiece that is Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, that hasn’t stopped one of the gaming industry’s speediest developers from already announcing another game.During the RGG Summitthat just took place,it was revealed that Majima is finally getting his own dedicated game.

Majima getting his own game doesn’t come as a surprise to most fans since it’s been one of the most requested LAD projects ever since Yakuza 0,but it did shock us all that it’s actually a pirate-themed game. Well, I should probably say it shockednearlyall of us, as it seems that at least one person has been in the know for months.

Someone Leaked Majima’s Pirate Game Months Ago

As pointed out by Twitter user Jawmuncher, all the way back in May of this year an anonymous user posted a thread of details about an alleged Like a Dragon game with the codename “Madlantis”. In the thread, the user says they can share the information now that RGG has teased the project and then goes on to list what would have seemed completely ridiculous at the time.

The user notes that it’s a new spinoff game set after Infinite Wealth that stars Majima as he becomes a pirate after getting lost at sea, with the Yakuza tattoos becoming the key to unlocking his memory. The post wildly claimed that Majima is the captain of a pirate crew and goes up against other pirate warlords with a new combat style based on swashbuckling. Sure thing…

Some of the details in the leak are things that haven’t actually been confirmed by RGG yet, such as your crew being able to undertake missions while you go on story quests.

Of course, while that all sounded very far-fetched at the time, something that Jawmuncher says is the case since most fans didn’t believe it, almost everything in the thread has turned out to be completely true and what Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is all about. It’s a little wild that this was all leaked in May and no one has talked about it, but I guess that anonymous source is one to be trusted.
