Summary

Over the weekend, YouTuber, famous baker, and author Rosanna Pansino released a video comparing Lunchables to Lunchly, a new snack food competitor designed by influencersMrBeast,KSI, andLogan Paul. However, upon opening the Pizza Lunchly, which had an expiration date of December, Pansino immediately found mold.

Since the video went viral, more and more posts have surfaced showing the exact same problem. To clear the air, a source close to MrBeast toldNewsweekto “consider the context and the source”. The implication here is that A) Pansino isn’t trustworthy and B) the mold isn’t Lunchly’s fault, but instead how Pansino was storing the product.

UK health campaigners have alsocriticised the product, saying that despite claims of targeting young people with a healthy snack alternative, they are “high in fat, salt or sugar”.

The company’s website says that Lunchly boxes should be refrigerated. But even if Pansino was storing the products incorrectly, that doesn’t account for the other posts cropping up across social media that also show mold, nor does it address that Pansino said she had only just bought the product. If true, Lunchly going moldy that fast is a major problem considering they are designed for children who will inevitably bring them to school in packed lunches, keeping them out of the refrigerator for hours.

What’s Happening With Lunchly?

There are a couple of leading theories as to why so many people have allegedly run into moldy cheese when opening their Pizza Lunchly boxes. MrBeast, KSI, and Logan Paul proudly claimed that Lunchly wouldn’t use preservatives, which some believe might be the root cause, but others argue that the fault lies with the packaging. In Pansino’s video, she even highlights that “the sealant here feels really cheap” and that it’s “not vacuum tight”.

In light of these claims, many are calling on MrBeast, KSI, and Logan Paul to recall the products and investigate the problem due to the risk it poses to children who may unknowingly eat the mold. However, the three have yet to respond directly.
