Summary
As announced duringMarvel’sgaming panel at New York Comic Con,Insomniac’sMarvel’s Spider-Man 2will bemaking its way to PC in late January. However, if you were expecting some story-related DLC, then that won’t be happening.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Insomniac confirmed that there is no additional story content planned, bringing to an end any remaining hopes of further Spider-Man 2 content. Per that post, the following was said:
While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more.
The news comes as Spider-Man fans had been waiting with bated breath for any news regarding post-launch DLC for the multiple plot lines left unresolved or teased. When that wasn’t part of the most recent PlayStation State of Play, fans were understandably upset. That means that all that has been released since Spider-Man 2’s original launch a year ago encompasses the full package.
Post-Launch DLC Was Leaked
Spidey fans might recallthat as part of the massive data breach that Insomniac experienced,post-launch DLC for Spider-Man 2 was revealed.
Via that leak, multiple files for DLC centered around The Beetle were unearthed. Those files included missions, as well as enemy types. A further development even unearthedconcept art for The Beetle, making the DLC more than just a concept, but an actual fully-fledged plan. Those elements now seem to have been scrapped, or potentially pushed into the inevitable Spider-Man 3.
At this point, it’s unclear what the future holds for Insomniac’s Marvel universe. To this point, details on Wolverine have been extremely scarce. Additionally, the leaked Venom game has also not been announced. That gamewas aiming for a 2025 release, though that could now no longer be the case. Only time will tell if anything comes to pass in the end.
