Summary
Metal Gear Solid Master Collection: Volume 2has been an open secret for quite a while. Just the fact that the previous game was called Volume 1 hinted thatKonamihad plans to release more collections, and the developer has been dropping hints about its existence ever since the first game dropped last year, teasing fans about what games could be included.
However, it seems as though plenty of work is still to be done before Konami is ready to release Volume 2, as explained in the developer’s latest episode of theMetal Gear - Production Hotline YouTube series. In the video, Konami explains that it’s still going to be a little while before it gets a “clear picture” of what the collection will look like and what games will be included, claiming that development this time around is a lot trickier.
It also explains that there are a lot of worries surrounding Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 2 after the issues that surrounded the first volume at launch. For those unaware, the first volume was criticized for looking and running worse than the original games, especially on the Nintendo Switch, and Konami has spent the past year fixing issues and getting things running smoother.
Metal Gear Collection Volume 1’s Rough Launch Has Konami Worried About Volume 2
In Konami’s most recent video, it explains that there are actually worries in theMetal Gearteam surrounding Master Collection Volume 2 due to the rough launch of the first game, as presumably some fear that they won’t be able to meet expectations again.
We’re also worried about how Vol. 1 had a pretty rough launch, with all the issues, so we’re going to do everything we can not to repeat that…
Konami is urging that fans “give us time” to ensure Master Collection Volume 2 is the best it can be before it’s shipped out, and that kind of attitude to game development should hopefully reassure Metal Gear fans out there that more time and energy is being put into the collection this time around.
As for what’s included, Konami is still being pretty coy. It was teased last month thatthe collection would include a port of Metal Gear Solid 4, bringing its lengthy stay on the PS3 to an end.Files for Peace Walker were also found in the first collection’s files, hinting that it could be another title added to Volume 2, but that is a lot more speculative. We’ll have to wait for the official word from Konami to put the mystery to bed.
