Summary

The remasters of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater from theMetal Gear Solid: Master Collectionhave finally received mouse and keyboard support, over a year out from release.

Version 2.0.0, the version title for both games, makes several improvements to both games. Settings that allow you to change the game’s resolution, which wasn’t available in either title, have now been added to both.

Options, At Last

You’ll be able to use the original preset, which is what people have been using over the past year, an adjusted preset that uses your monitor’s highest resolution or a custom preset which allows you to tweak the resolution more finely. This was a highly-requested feature, especially for those with higher-resolution monitors. Interestingly, you won’t be able to change your resolution after starting the game because of stability issues.

Finally, there’s going to be mouse-and-keyboard support for the remasters, with both titles previously only supporting controllers. You’ll be able to rebind your controls in the menu as well. Along with resolution, this was another feature the MGS community was crying out for.

The Remaster Collection attracted a lot of criticism at release because of its $60 price tag and lack of features, especially in comparison to similar projects like the Tomb Raider remasters. It would appear Konami is taking appropriate action to remedy this with Version 2.0.0.

While the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection may not have had a fantastic reception at release, there’s a lot of anticipation surrounding the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater which is scheduled to release at some point in 2024.

That being said, our own Jade King was disappointed with just how faithful the remake is to the original in theirpreview. In their opinion, Konami didn’t innovate at all on the original and it’s to the detriment ofMetal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
