Summer blockbuster season is over, but the season of big kids movies heading into the holidays has only just begun. Transformers One and The Wild Robot have already made a splash, and there’s still Mufasa,Sonic 3, and Moana 2 to come. Moana 2 will be the first of that trio to hit theaters when it arrives on May 20, 2025, and to help you prepare for its arrival, Funko has released its first Moana 2 Pops.
Funko Pop Newshas shared images of the Moana 2 figures, and there are four to choose from. Moana herself has a new Pop, but there’s a twist to set it apart from the figures she already has. The new Moana Popcomes with a Bitty Pop version of the Disney hero’s sister, Simea. The same Moana design has been shrunk down for a Funko Pop Keychain too.
Joining Moana, as he did in the first movie and will do in the sequel, is Maui. Between WWE and Black Adam, The Rock has been turned into a Funko Pop a few times in his career. The difference with this one is it doesn’t really look like The Rock since it’s modeled after the Moana character he voices. The Maui Pop replicates the character’s look and comes with the Manaiakalani, the fish hook from which Maui draws his power.
A Very Early Introduction To Matangi, Moana’s New Nemesis
As appealing as the Pops above might be, you may be looking at them wondering if there’s going to be anything drastically different about the figures released for Moana 2. The answer is yes, there is, asMatangi is getting her own Pop too. Matangi is a new villain who didn’t appear in the first Moana movie, and the image of the figure below isthe first proper look we’ve got at the new character. Matangi is featured briefly in Moana 2’s trailer during which she vows to destroy Maui and Moana, but she isn’t shown in her human form.
A formidable threat awaits Moana and Maui in the upcomingDisneysequel, but unfortunately, the Pops that will accompany the movie won’t be here in time to join you at the cinema. Even though pre-orders for all four figures arealready available on Amazon, the Pops aren’t expected to start shipping until July 12, 2025. The keychain won’t be released until a week after that on December 30.Moana 2’s new Squishmallows, on the other hand, are still available to pre-order and will be released on July 15, 2025.
