Metaphor: ReFantaziostars a young man who belongs to a tiny tribe of outcasts as he makes his way through a world rife with racial tensions. It should come as no surprise, then, that opportunities for financial gain are few and far between for our hero, especially in the opening hours.

But “this fits the themes of the story” and “I still really need this shiny new sword” don’t have to exist on separate planes of reality. Youcanhave enough cash on-hand to purchase a good deal of stuff, and as the game opens up, you can even strike it rich. Here’s how.

The Memorandum entry for Trance Crystals in Metaphor ReFantazio

Trance Crystals With Merchant Archetype Unlocked

This entry will contain minor spoilers, specifically thelocation of the game’s first major dungeon.

Scholars call them “magla flowers.” We call themmoney-makers. Trance Crystals, at least the ones we’ve encountered thus far, can befarmed to make hundreds of reeve in a matter of minutes.

The trick is tounlock the Merchant Archetype prior to progressing past the Trance Crystalsin the Regalith Grand Cathedral. The Trance Crystals willspawn enemies until they’re destroyed, so you want toavoid destroying the crystal itself.

With theAlchemy passive skill, which is unlocked as soon as you study the Archetype, you’lloften win a small sum of money each time an enemy is stunned or defeated in overworld combat.

Since the enemies spawned at the Trance Crystal in the first major dungeon, Regalith Grand Cathedral, are mostlyweak enough to be destroyed via overworld combat, you won’t need to worry about running out of resources.

Now, we do need to emphasize that, while this isfar and away the best source of early income, we cannot as yet verify that there will be further Trance Crystals. We’re running on a strong impression that there will be.

Regardless, don’t hesitate to use the ones at Regalith Grand Cathedral to rake up a strong stockpile of cash!

The Merchant Archetype In General

But the Merchant Archetype canmake money in other ways as well. First, that aforementioned Hero Passive is effective everywhere else, too!

As you rank up, though, you’ll gain further financial incentives.Lucky Find, which is earned viaRank 2,increases item drops from battles by 20 percent. Items are great. Items you don’t necessarilyneedcan be sold for more money.

Debt Collection, theRank 20(mastery) skill, allows you tosteal MAG from enemies. WhileMAG is the necessary currency for studying Archetypes, you can alsosell MAG to a man in Grand Trad, on Sunshade Row.

The man pays more on days withinclement weather, so don’t sell when the weather’s fine.

Consistent sale of excess MAG can and will add up to a meaningful extent. What’s more, the Merchant’s advanced class, which we’ve yet to unlock, will almost certainly provide even more ways to make money. We’ll let you know!

The Thief Archetype

When the fourth party member,Heismay, joins the protagonist’s plucky ensemble of heroes, he brings with him theThief Archetype. And, well, thieves do tend to steal.

AtRank 1, thePickpocketpassive provides achacne of getting an item each time an enemy is stunned or defeated in overworld combat. Now, wait a sec. We’re already doing that with Merchant for gobs and gobs of reeve. This deal’s getting better all the time.

Furthermore, at merelyRank 2, Steal- which Heismay comes with by default! - allows you toattempt to steal a rare item from an enemy. These items are oftenexcellent gear to equip, butmultiples of those gear, as well as other possible loot, can be sold.

Steal’s success rate is based uponthe character’s Agility stat. If you want the protagonist to act in this unsavory, yet deliciously lucrative, manner, thenbe sure to raise his Agility statsometimes when the levels up.Heismay’s will be quite highregardless.
