Summary
TheMonster Hunter Wilds beta is now live on PS Pluswhich means we will start to learn new details about the next installment in the series over the coming hours and days. In fact, we know something new about Wilds already even though the beta is only a few hours old.Monster Hunter Wildshas an arachnophobia mode, and it turns the game’s spiders into something that doesn’t look much like a spider at all.
Spoiler alert: Monster Hunter Wilds is a game filled with monsters. It might still be four months until launch, but we already know that much. While looking at fantastical beasts that don’t resemble anything from the real world likely won’t be a problem for most players, creatures in the game that look like insects and spiders could pose a problem. Thankfully,Automatonhas already noted Monster Hunter Wilds has somethingCapcomhas dubbed Arachnophobia Assistance.
When turned on, Arachnophobia Assistance doesn’t only deal with any spiders you might encounter during the Wilds' beta, but insects too. Presumably anything with six legs or more regardless of size. As for what those with a fear of spiders and other creepy crawlies will be faced with, the bugs will be replaced with little green blobs. If you’re afraid of spiders and slime, well, you may want to give the next Monster Hunter a miss.
Arachnophobia Assistance Turns Monster Hunter Wilds' Spiders Into Blobs
Far Less Scary
Even though switching on Monster Hunter Wilds' arachnophobia mode will turn spiders and insects into green blobs, it doesn’t appear to have changed how those creatures will move and react. They will still be just as difficult to take down and they will move in the same way. These are very early days for Wilds, of course, and as of right now, it’s unclear how the game’s Arachnophobia Assistance will handle some of the game’s bigger spider-like monsters.
Automaton uses Lala Barina as an example. A monster you’ll likely not encounter during the beta, but one which will almost certainly be in the full game. Lala Barina only has four legs, but they’re long and spindly with its small body perched on top of them. Suffice to say, if you have an aversion to spiders, you won’t want to run into this guy. Unless it has been transformed into a big green blob like the other bugs, of course.
