Summary
We’ve seen plenty ofMonster Hunter Wildsrecently, as Capcom has not been shy aboutgiving us plenty of new gameplay trailers to analyze. We’ve yet to get that elusive release date, but Capcom has finally remedied that issue, revealing that Monster Hunter Wilds is launching on February 28 next year.
Capcom announced this news via another brand-new trailer, which featured the cast of the game, some neat combat segments, and, of course, a lot of different monsters. We also got to see more of those brutal weather mechanics, as the terrain changed based on how windy and rainy it was, while we also saw how the grappling hook can be used with the environment during combat.
Of course, with the reveal of a release date, that means that pre-orders are now officially available. Capcom is giving you plenty of incentives to get your order in as early as possible too, as it was revealed that players will get the Guild Knight Set for pre-ordering, a snazzy set of threads with a red tricorn hat. You’ll also get the Hope Charm Talisman (no idea what it does), andsome save data bonuses which come in the form of Palico armorif you’ve played Monster Hunter World and Iceborne.
Our Long Wait For A New Monster Hunter Is Almost Over
Apart from the date, there wasn’t much else that we didn’t already know about in the trailer, though it is nice to see more of the game shown off before release. At the very least, we now know that we only have to wait five more months for our long-awaited mainline Monster Hunter game, though Capcom did recently explain why it’s taken them so long to release one.
According to art director Kaname Fujioka, the success of Monster Hunter World has made it pretty tricky for Capcom to make sure they get Wilds right. That’s not too surprising, given that Monster Hunter Worlds was so successful that it’s currently the publisher’s highest selling game, but Fujioka explained that the influx of new players made it difficult to balance Wilds for new and veteran players. Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too long to see if they manage it.
