The countdown toMonster Hunter Wildscontinues in what has been a packed year for fans of the series thanks toCapcomcelebrating its 20th anniversary in every way it possibly can. The latest of those celebrations takes the form of a very special crossover withTransformers, the result a Rathalos Prime action figure you can pre-order right now.
A collab between Transformers and Monster Hunter makes a lot of sense. Not only because Capcom is trying to celebrate 20 years of Monster Hunter while also building to the launch of its biggest game yet, but the arrival of Rathalos Prime in the US just happens to coincide with Transformers One making a killing at the box office - it’s already amongthe top 25 highest-grossing movies of the year.
The Rathalos Prime action figure was released in Japan last month and is now available in America via Entertainment Earth. Created by Takara Tomy - the same toy company responsible forthe recently revealed Goro Majima Pop Up Pirate- Rathalos Prime has two modes, just like most other Transformers. However, when this Prime transforms, it doesn’t turn into a truck.
Monster Hunter x Transformers Rathalos Prime Action Figure
When the action figure is in robot mode, it looks a little like Optimus Prime except he’s wearing the hide of a Rathalos he has caught and felled. When the figure transforms into monster mode, the Monster Hunter beast emerges, looking like it has been combined with some sort of mech as remnants of Optimus’s steely frame can still be seen, particularly across its chest.
Even the weapons that accompany the figure are a combination of Optimus and Ratahalos. When in robot mode, Optimus can hold a sword and a shield, both of which have elements of Rathalos on them. The two accessories can also be combined so that the Transformer can wield a Rathalos-themed axe. While the accessories can’t be used when in monster mode, Rathalos’s limbs and wings are fully posable.
The Rathalos Prime action figure is available now at Entertainment Earth through the link in the box below. There is a little bit of bad news, though. Even though pre-orders are now open, the figures aren’t expected to ship until August 2025. By that time, we will be well into our Wilds journeys. On the bright side, it will give us something Monster Hunter-themed to look forward to even after the new game has arrived.
Transformers x Monster Hunter Rathalos Prime Action Figure
Monster Hunter and Transformers have teamed up to create this truly unique action figure. When in robot mode, the figure is Optimus Prime adorned in Rathalos features. When it transformers into monster mode, it becomes Monster Hunter’s Rathalos. The figure includes shield and sword accessories that can be combined into an axe.
As noted above, this year has already been loaded with Monster Hunter merch to celebrate the series turning 20. We’re reaching the end ofthe plushes promised by Capcomthat have been released gradually throughout the year, andsome Monster Hunter x Digimon V-Petswere revealed last month with Rathalos and Zinogre designs to choose from.
