Summary
If there is one thing thatTransformersfans want the most, it certainly isn’t any more live-action Michael Bay-esque movies, and instead more quality video games, a la War for Cybertron. At some point in the near future, those wishes might come true.
As first spotted on Reddit’s GamingLeaksAndRumours sub, a dedicated member ofthe largest Transformers fan websitesharedthat two video games are in the works by Microsoft. No other information was shared, other than that a 2024 release date target has been set.
Like with any rumor, it’s important to take this latest batch of intel with a grain of salt. That said, the fan website features several dedicated members, andthe poster in question has a track record of closely following Transformers projects.
So What Exactly Could It Be?
Then,in the wake of Deadpool & Wolverine’s massive popularity, a reliable Xbox insider revealed that Microsoft is working to re-license several Marvel titles.According to insider Shpeshal Nick, Microsoft is actively working to get theDeadpoolsolo video game, as well as theMarvel Ultimate Alliancegames back on the store again.
Like the Transformers titles, the Marvel video games were also published by Activision and subsequently delisted. In other words, there could be a connection at play. Now thatActivisionis fully under theMicrosoftumbrella, it appears that, at the very least, re-licensing older video games that were Backwards Compatible is a goal.
Of course, all of this could be conjecture and nothing ends up happening. However, gamers have been vocal about a re-release, especially as prices on the second-hand market have exploded due to the lack of availability. That would certainly be a welcome treat, as well asa huge morale boost for a community that definitely needs one.
