Summary

Nintendomight have plans to reveal its next console any day now, but it’s far from done with theSwitchjust yet. There’s at least one more holiday season to go for the Switch before it’s replaced by a Switch 2, and that means there will be bundles to try and increase sales numbers and push Nintendo’s latest console to become the best-selling console of all time. However, the bundles confirmed for US customers are a little underwhelming.

Nintendo Of America revealed on social media thatMario Kart 8 Deluxebundles for the OLED Switch and the regular Switchwill go on sale this fall. I’ve lost count of how many times Nintendo has bundled its latest Mario Kart game with its newest console for the holidays, but it has happened a few times before. Likely a case of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, Nintendo has turned to old reliable again for Christmas 2024.

It’s easy to see why Nintendo has opted for Mario Kart bundles again. Not only is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe far and away the best-selling game on Switch, but it continues to sit among the top ten best-sellers across all platforms every week. If there are people who still don’t own a Switch that might buy one at this late stage in the console’s run, the game that’s going to convince them to pick one up is the latest in a series that almost everyone is familiar with.

More Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundles Are Coming This Fall

There Must Be Someone Left Who Still Doesn’t Have This Game, Right?

As for why some people are disappointed with the return of Nintendo’s Mario Kart bundle, two weeks ago there was a rumor suggestingNintendo was preparing to reveal a Super Mario Bros. Wonder OLED bundle. Turns out that rumor was accurate, except for now at least, that bundle will be exclusive to Australia and New Zealand.According to VGC, there are also plans to release aNintendo Switch Sportsbundle as well as some new Switch Lite bundles, so don’t give up all hope yet if you’re reading this in the US.

There is one welcome difference between this year’s Mario Kart bundles and the ones that have come before it - they come with 12 months of Nintendo Switch Online. You’ll have to pay extra for the Expansion Pass which includes access to the new tracks and characters, though.

It’s not as if you’ve got nothing new coming your way for the rest of 2024 on the Nintendo front. The Hyrule Edition Switch Lite is now only ten days away, launching on the same day asThe Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom. Speaking of which, there are still three big Switch games coming this year - Echoes Of Wisdom,Super Mario Party Jamboree, andMario & Luigi: Brothership. Besides, if you already have a Switch, why do you care about Nintendo’s new bundles?
