Summary

Nintendois known for releasing branded items that are a little out there.Look no further than the Alarmofor all the evidence you need of that. The Alarmo’s arrival overshadowed another of Nintendo’s weirder merch releases - a Super Mario frying pan. That overshadowing might be for the best as the manufacturers of Nintendo’s pan have issued a statement urging owners to stop using it.

Bandai created the frying pan andissued a statement about its faulton what appears to be a page on which it shares updates about all of the Nintendo-themed products it sells in Japan (thanks,OatmealDome). The statement notes that a fault has been discovered with the pan that causes the oil in it to change color when heated. However, exactly why this is happening remains unclear.

The frying pan has been removed from sale due to the fault, and the statement urges those who already own one to stop using it and wait for a further update on what exactly is wrong with the pan. Bandai is presumably carrying out tests on the pan to determine what’s causing the fault and whether the product could potentially be harmful to those using it. Bandai has told pan owners to keep checking back to the page for further updates on what to do next.

Bandai Has Issued A Warning About Its Super Mario Frying Pans

Don’t Use Them Until Further Notice

If the pan changes the appearance of the oil and nothing more, Bandai and Nintendo will likely leave it be. However, if the fault is discovered to do something more sinister to the food you cook with it, then a recall may well be on the cards. It’s unclear how big an undertaking that will be, though the frying pan has only been released in Japan and appears to be a product that was sold in conjunction with the recently releasedSuper Mario Party Jamboree, so it seems likely there aren’t many out there to be recalled if the issue with the pan is serious enough to warrant that.

Usually when covering Japan-exclusive products, it’s at this point I speak of my disappointment that it isn’t available in the West and hope for an eventual worldwide release. In this rare case, if you were hoping to one day make Super Mushroom-shaped pancakes in the US, you’re likely out of luck. If you want to wake up to the sound of Jump Up Superstar and then go make boring old round pancakes, the Alarmo has you covered and is available everywhere.

Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo

Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo

Nintendo’s Alarmo is an alarm clock that tracks your movement while you sleep. You can choose from five games from which the clock will play music and sound effects, with each game having seven scenes to choose from. The Alarmo’s alarm will get more intense if you don’t get out of bed, and then stop automatically once you do get up.
