Summary

No Man’s Skyhasa decent number of exocrafts you can useto make traversing the planets you discover a little easier. Some of them are more popular than others, as the Exo Skiff recently added in the game’s Aquarius updatewas labeled as the “most useless tech” in the game, but one thing that we can all agree on is that the Nomad is pretty dang cool.

Not only is the Nomad super quick, making it feel like you’re racing across the surface of a planet, but it’s also the only exocraft that can quickly glide over the surface of the water. That makes it a pretty handy piece of tech for getting around ocean planets a bit easier, but its utility was increased tenfold earlier this week after many players found out it can drive underwater too.

An aircraft flies just over the water in No Man’s Sky’s Worlds Part 1 update.

First shared on the No Man’s Sky subreddit by _Emmyemi, they explain and showcase the Nomad’s ability to dive underwater if you strike a large body of water at the right angle after getting some air. In the video (which you’re able to find embedded above), _Emmyemi slowly drives off a platform and the Nomad is engulfed by the ocean. However, instead of sinking to the bottom like a lead balloon, the Nomad actually zips along underneath the waves.

If you’re a longtime player of No Man’s Sky, you’ll know that this little tidbit has been a thing ever since the Nomad was first introduced to the game. You can find a couple of videos on YouTube of people showing how you can get the Nomad to drive underwater, even revealing that it can be summoned to the bottom of the ocean too, but it appears as though quite a lot of No Man’s Sky players weren’t aware.

In the replies to _Emmyemi’s video, you can see several people completely perplexed by this discovery, asking whether it can stay submerged or whether it eventually floats to the top. A Reddit user called Just_someone27000 even stated that the Nomad is their favorite exocraft, and yet even they didn’t know about this tip.

Looks like I found a quick fun way to my fishing shack next to my settlement

If you’re also one of these perplexed players, you’ll probably want to know that you can actually drive the Nomad underwater as long as you like, as long as you keep your vehicle level and don’t tip its nose up. You can now zip along underwater as much as you please, so if you find yourself in a situation where the Nautilon is too slow for you, you now know that the Nomad can get you out of a pinch.
