Summary

With the announcement ofThe Simsmovie in the works, fans have only one question: what will it be about? The Sims is a notoriously open-ended game; one person’s game will look very different from another person’s game. So what—or who—can appear in the film?

For a game based on creating unique characters, the Sims has some very famous NPCs. Pre-made characters are included in every game for new Sims to meet, or they can even be played themselves. These NPCS can be beloved or hated, but they’re all iconic. These are some of the characters that should be included in the Sims movie.

Marsha Brunig plays with a toy gnome in the yard.

10Marsha Bruenig

The Diabolical Deep Cut

Old heads remember Marsha Bruenig. She’s kind of hard to forget. Marsha is a child NPC from the Sims 2 that would often come home from school with your own child Sims. This was all well and good. But in the earliest version of the Sims 2, only playable children aged up. So Marsha was a child. Forever. And she never forgot that she’d befriended a character.

Marsha was infamous for spam-calling Simslongafter they had been childhood friends. Elders would be getting calls from some kid they played with once, demanding they head downtown with her. Marsha’s behavior was so annoying that the development team had to patch it out. Marsha may be an older NPC, but her behavior has never been forgotten- making a cameo from her a welcome (and slightly terrifying) prospect.

The Curious Brothers stand against a space background. Lazlo reads a magazine, Vidcund looks for aliens, and Pascal uses a computer.

9Pascal, Vidcund, And Lazlo Curious

A Family Out Of This World

Of all the neighborhoods in the Sims 2, the most popular seems to be Strangetown. This wacky desert town is filled with secrets—and the Curious brothers are right at the heart of the mystery. If Strangetown is to make its silver screen debut, the Curious brothers would be happy to serve as protagonists.

Pascal, Vidcund, and Lazlo Curious are three brothers who have dedicated their lives to studying aliens. They’ve even been abducted several times- which has caused some ratherinterestingconsequences. Including these three in the movie would be an easy way to introduce some of the strange aspects of Sims lore.

Don Lothario kisses Dina Caliente.

8Don Lothario

The Ultimate Womanizer

If there was a more infamous lover in the whole Sims franchise, Don Lothario would no doubt seduce them. Don Lothario istheking of romance when it comes to the Sims—his behavior is the primary catalyst for chaos in the Sims 2’s Pleasantview.

In the Sims 2 alone, Don has four lovers and is eager for more. His leaving of Cassandra Goth at the altar has made him a heel in the eyes of many Simmers, and his cameos in later games have only cemented his reputation. Don would fit nicely into the Sims movie, potentially as a villain. But whatever role he plays, he’s sure tobring the romance.

Bob and Eliza Pancakes eat pancakes. Eliza is yelling at Bob.

7Bob And Eliza Pancakes

A Modern Marriage

The Sims has always played around with relationships- whether they be good or bad. The Pancakes are the latest depiction of domestic ‘bliss’ featured in the series, and they’ve quickly become famous in their dysfunction.

Eliza is a perfectionist with ambition a mile wide, while Bob is considered “the most least interesting Sim alive.” Their relationship is bad at the start of any save, and it is up to the players to either get these two on the same page or permanently drive them apart. With Bob’s apathy and Eliza’s nagging, they’d be the perfect couple to bring drama into the Sims movie.

Bob and Betty Newbie sit together on a bench.

6Bob And Betty Newbie

The Start Of It All

On the flipside, the Sims has also explored relationships that are more positive. One of the core features of the game, after all, is families- and at the center of most families is love. For many players, the first love story they saw play out was with the tutorial couple: Bob and Betty Newbie.

The Newbies first debuted in the Sims, the first entry in the series. They serve as an introduction to gameplay, and many players have great memories of their little house on 7 Sim Lane. The arrival of the Newbies could serve as an excellent start to the film’s story, and they’d make a wonderful pair of protagonists. They have plenty of experience with it, after all.

Nancy Landgraab stares at a gardener.

5The Landgraab Family

The Family You Love To Hate

Few families have produced more villains thanthe Landgraab family. It’s like cheapness pettiness and snobbery is in their DNA or something. The Landgraab family, which actually first appeared in SimCity 3000, has been an antagonistic force towards players for decades.

Whether it’s Malcolm Landgraab stealing a house in the Sims for console, or Nancy Landgraab bothering Sims at a restaurant, almost every player has a history with the Landgraabs. They’re basically tailor-made to serve as an antagonist in the film—no doubt in some money-making scheme. Making the Landgraabs the villains would be an easy way to provide conflict and immediately get Simmers on-board to see them defeated.

4Nina And Dina Caliente

The Twins Of Trouble

No matter how many years pass, Nina and Dina Caliente just keep coming back. These sisters were introduced in the Sims 2 and quickly became cult favorites among Simmers. They’re dressy, messy, and just the best-y.

Dina is the gold-digging mastermind of the two who has her eyes set on any rich man in her path. Nina, meanwhile, is just a pure hedonist- she wants to have fun and kiss a few people along the way. They could serve as antagonists of the film or as lovable anti-heroes. Either way, you can’t have a party (or a film) without the Calientes.

Olive Specter marries a victim.

3Olive Specter

The Queen Of Black Widows

Despite being a series wheredeath is part of the fun, the Sims generally stay away from overt murder and malice. Olive Specter of Strangetown is the one exception. Few characters have caused more speculation than Olive, and she stands as one of the potentially actually malicious characters in the franchise.

Olive Specter is a rich widow living on the outskirts of town. She’s been married many times, and all of them died very strangely. Her dead husbands, who all have very fitting names like Earl E. Demise and Rigger Mortis, lay in her graveyard. But they’re not alone. 19 Sims in total rest on Olive’s lot, and she witnessed most of their deaths. Olive and her ‘garden’ would be an excellent mystery for the movie- provided the cast doesn’t wind up staying there permanently…

Miss Crumplebottom Makes a Threat.

2Miss Crumplebottom

Include Her Or Else

If the writers for the Sims movie are looking for an antagonist, look no further: Miss Crumplebottom would love nothing more than to ruin things for everyone. This tough old bird, after all, has a lot of practice at ruining things.

Miss Crumplebottom has been a force of nature unto unsuspecting Sims since her debate in the Sims: Hot Date. She hates romance due to the tragic loss of her husband, and she’ll interrupt any romantic overtures she sees. Miss Crumplebottom could be an excellent source of comedic relief in the movie, as well as a figure of tragedy. Either way, if she isn’t included, she’ll surely complain.

The Goth Family uses various forms of magic.

1Bella Goth

The Great Bella

There’s no question about it: when it comes to famous Sims character, you can’t beat Bella. Bella Goth is the most famous character in the entire franchise. Her and her little red dress have been iconic ever since she first appeared in the Sims, and she’s remained a force of magic and mystery for over twenty years.

Bella isn’t just a pretty face, as any Simmer worth their salt can tell you. She’s been involved in many plotlines, most notably her disappearance in the Sims 2 (possibly by aliens). That’s right- Bella is so popular, she’s iconic even when she isn’t around. Adapting the Bella Goth plotline for the film is an easy way to combine in-game lore with Hollywood magic. Either way, they can’t just leave out Bella. Somehow, someway, she always returns.
