Summary
2024 has been one rollercoaster of a ride for Pocketpair, the team behind the breakout hitPalworld. When the game debuted in January,it immediately smashed all sorts of records en route to becoming one of Steam’s most-played games ever.
Then, things took a turn for the worsewhen Nintendo announced it was suing the game’s creators for patent infringement. Still, that didn’t stopthe team from finally releasing the game on PlayStation 5, or fans from rallying around the multiplayer title.
That said, throughout this whole period there has been a wave of “anti-Palworld” hate, with much of it directed at the people behind the game. So much so that the game’s community manager has issued their own statement, effectively telling the haters to get a life.
Please Move On If You Hate Us That Much
Taking to Twitter, Bucky, the Global Community Manager of Pocketpair and Palworld, shared their own thoughts on the massive amount of hate and negativity being flown their way. Part of their statement read as follows:
“If you’re hyping a building full of people losing their jobs then it’s not an us problem, it’s a you problem. These sorts of over-emotional takes are running rampant in the gaming scene these days, but the Palworld ones are particularly silly.
“If you hate Palworld, and I mean if you genuinely hate Palworld, then do yourself a favour and mute us on Twitter, hide the game on Steam and stop thinking about it. Who wants to dedicate time and energy to things they don’t like?
“Your hate serves only to upset yourself and feed grifters their views. Move on.”
Other Creators Have Also Taken Stands Before
Bucky’s sentiment isn’t the first time someone involved with gaming has taken a stand against negative vitriol. Earlier this year,XDefiant’s Executive Producer Mark Rubin also had enough of those taking aim with Ubisoft’s multiplayer shooter project.
In his own statement on Twitter, Rubin defended the title, while also telling detractors that they can “move on” if they feel so strongly about the game. In other words, when pushed to their limit, creators will speak out. It shouldn’t have to come to that, but such is gaming discourse in 2024.
