The second game in the Pokemon Legends spin-off series,Pokemon Legends: Z-A, takes place in the distant past of Pokemon X & Y’s Kalos Region. If the game is anything like its predecessor, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, we’re bound to venture through the historical rendition of the Kalos we grew to know and love.

The Kalos region is large and beautiful, so it would be a shame to limit the game’s scope to only exist within Lumiose City. There are lush forests, frost-filled caves, and beautiful beaches ripe for players to explore, to name just a few spectacular locations Kalos has to offer. We can only hope we can explore the vast Kalos region and appreciate it for all it’s worth.

Snowbelle City as seen in the Pokemon Evolutions anime.

8Snowbelle City

Before The City Met Everlasting Frost

In Pokemon: X & Y,Snowbelle City is covered in snowcaused by the frigid temperatures in the Pokemon Gym. As Legends: Z-A takes place in a time before Pokemon and humans were closely united, it’s unlikely that Snowbelle City was the winter wonderland it became in the future, if it was even a city at all. However, the area could still serve as a suitably snowy location, like theAlabaster Icelandsin Legends: Arceus.

The area around Snowbelle City also features the notable Pokemon Village, where certain Pokemon live in hiding for various reasons. In Pokemon: X & Y, the Unknown Dungeon was also located here, where Mewtwo can be found. As Mewtwo has two Mega Evolutions, it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine we might find it here.

Santalune City in the Pokemon anime.

A Forested Region For Fresh Beginnings

If any place in Kalos is perfect to begin your Pokemon journey outside of Lumiose City, it’s the space between Aquacorde Town andSantalune City. There you can find beautiful flowing rivers, green fields, and the vast and winding Santalune Forest.

If this was the first location we were sent on our Pokemon expeditions, it would have some clear parallels toObsidian Fieldlandsin Legends: Arceus. Hisui’s Heartwood became Sinnoh’s Eterna Forest, a deep forest comparable to Santalune Forest. Obsidian Fieldlands also covers land that became early-game Sinnoh locations like Twinloaf Town and Sandgem Town, making X & Y lovers nostalgic for its early game towns in turn.

Ambrette Aquarium from the Pokemon anime.

6Ambrette Town

Where Fossil Pokemon May Roam

Kalos has several charming towns running along its beaches, bringing to mind Hisui’s Cobalt Coastlands. This region could cover the space between Ambrette Town and Cyllage City, complete with caves like Connecting Cave and Glittering Cave.

In addition to the many sea-faring Pokemon you may find on the beach and in the water, Ambrette Town is also known for its fossil lab. According to the town’s map description, no one really cared about Ambrette Town until fossils were discovered in the area. If no time distortion zones are in the game, it’s likely you could findPokemon like Amaura and Tyrunthere. If such zones do exist in the game, you’ll likely find such fossil Pokemon in the distortion zones.

Tower of Mastery from the Pokemon anime.

5Shalour City

Your Introduction To Mega Pokemon

Mega Pokemonhave been confirmed to show up in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, but you have to get your first Mega Stone somewhere. What better place than Shalour City? The Tower of Mastery to the north may not exist during Z-A’s story, but the island likely would. Perhaps this is where Mega Stones were first discovered.

In addition to its importance to Mega Pokemon, Shalour City sits north of Reflection Cave, with its winding paths and mirror-like walls. Perhaps a secret lies within its deepest depths, or perhaps not. It would be a cool reason to have players explore the area, at the very least.

Parfum Palace in the Pokemon anime.

4Parfum Palace and Shabboneau Castle

Where Kalosian Nobles And Royalty Call Home

It’s hard to say how far in the past Legends: Z-A takes place. It could be 100 years, or it could be 300 years. Either way, Parfum Palace and Shabboneau Castle would be a lovely way to add insight into the history of Kalosian royalty.

Parfum Palace was built 300 years ago by the king of Kalos after warring with neighboring regions, though it has more recently been repurposed as a museum by the time of X & Y. Shabboneau Castle is more of a manor belonging to Kalosian nobility, though the owners have given away the majority of their possessions by the time of the 3DS games. Both locations could present a proper view into the lives of Kalosian royalty and nobility in the past.

Laverre City from the Pokemon anime.

3Laverre City

Autumnal Beauty And Muddy Bogs

Laverre City is built around an ancient tree that houses the Laverre Gym in modern times. This ever-autumnal region is beautiful to behold, and seeing it in a more natural state may impress players all the more.

However, were this city to be added to Legends: Z-A, the area could also include the boggy swamps of nearby routes, such as Route 14, making the area reminiscent ofHisui’s Crimson Mirelands. This location could be placed later in the game due to Laverre Gym being the sixth one you face in X & Y. The region could also frequently rain, helping players evolve their Sliggoo into a Goodra.

Dendemille Town from the Pokemon anime.

2Dendemille Town

Windmills And Frigid Chills

Dendemille Town is a rural farming town known for its windmill and the frigid Frost Cavern to the north. It’s located at a high altitude, possibly making it a wintry region in the past, comparable to the Alabaster Icelands.

While Snowbelle City is actually the city with the most snow in X & Y, Dendemille Town would be a more natural place for a snowy location in the past, or would at least lead to the frigid Frost Cavern, which would be full ofice, snow, and suitable Pokemonfor the climate.

Geosenge Town from the Pokemon Evolutions anime.

1Geosenge Town

Quiet Stones Speak Volumes

Geosenge Town is notable for the Stonehenge-like structure located in its center. As the real-world Stonehenge was built far in the past, it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine we could visit Geosenge Town in some capacity, even if it isn’t a true town in the time period the game is set in.

The ultimate weapon that nearly destroyed the world is also hidden beneath Geosenge Town, making it a suitable place for the game’s finale. There’s no guarantee the ultimate weapon will actually play any role in Legends: Z-A, but we can assume that based on Z-A being AZ backward, AZ’s dark past might have some relevance within the game.
