Summary
PlayStationhas been expanding its DualSense range at a steady rate since launch, adding a new collection this year and last year with some limited edition designs connected to certain games sprinkled in for good measure. The DualSense Edge, on the other hand, hasn’t received the same attention, but it might finally be getting a second permanent color option very soon.
Until now, the DualSense Edge has only been available in white. That’s not including the grey 30th anniversary DualSense Edge which doesn’t really count since it’s a limited edition option and sold out immediately at launch and againwhen it was restocked last week. According torenowned PlayStation leaker dealabs, the Edge is about to get a black option, presumably a permanent one that will be restocked even if it sells out immediately like the anniversary controller.
The report goes on to note that the rumored new DualSense Edge color option will be joined by two PlayStation accessories that also don’t have any alternative colors available, limited edition or otherwise. If dealabs reporting is accurate, and it almost always is, the Pulse Explore Earbuds and the Pulse Elite Headset will also get black variants soon.
The earbuds were released last year and immediately became one of the PS5’s most sought-after accessories despite their steep price point. Speaking of price, it’s believed the black options for the DualSense Edge, Explore Earbuds, and Elite Headset will all cost the same as the existing white versions of each accessory. That’s $199.99 for the DualSense Edge, the same price for the earbuds, and a significantly cheaper RRP of $149.99 for the headset
The white Pulse Earbuds arecurrently available for a slightly reduced price of $169.99at PlayStation Direct. I believe it’s the first time they’ve ever been on sale, at least when it comes to buying them directly from PlayStation.
This pretty concrete rumor can be thrown on a growing pile that points to PlayStation seemingly having something big planned for the near future. A recent PlayStation ad appears to include a date that suggests whatever PlayStation is building to will go down on July 31, 2025. A very notable date as that’s PlayStation’s 30th anniversary, an occasion that has already been celebrated in several ways.
Christopher Judge added to the rumors over the weekendas the Kratos actor told fans there are multipleGod Of Warannouncements coming. We already know Kratos will be featured in PlayStation’s Secret Level episode, but Judge’s comments suggest there’s more news to come.
