Summary

There are only so many timesPokemoncan slap a Santa hat on Pikachu or give it a balloon before it has to start getting more inventive with its mascot’s new looks. It really went left field with it last year whenit teamed up with the Van Gogh Museumand turned Pikachu into the iconic Dutch artist. Demand for the collection, particularly the Van Gogh Pikachu plush, was so high, it resulted in a low-tier riot at the museum. One year on, the plush has been restocked.

The most in-demand item in the collection was a matching Van Gogh Pikachu card that came with the plush. That card is not back in stock.

Anyone who didn’t get their hands on the plush during the Pokemon x Van Gogh Museum promo period likely assumed, outside of paying through the nose for it on a resale site, the opportunity to own the soft toy homage to one of history’s most famous artists had passed. Well, apparently not. The unique Pikachu plush is back in stock right now through the link below and hasn’t immediately sold out, although I can’t promise it’ll still be there when you read this becuase, well, I don’t know when you’re reading this.

Pokemon shadow dropped the fresh batch of plushes in the middle of the night in the US which is likely why it hasn’t already sold out. As in-demand as the plush was when it was first released, I’d be surprised to find out there were still people hitting refresh on its store page, praying for the day we assumed would never come. The Pikachu plush has been made to look like Van Gogh, complete with a little paintbrush in one hand and a painting in the other. It does still have both its ears, though.

Van Gogh Pikachu Is Back

Likely For A Very Limited Time

Pokemon’s collab with the Van Gogh Museum ran deeper than a Pikachu plush alone. There was an entire range featuring Pokemon made to look as if they had been painted by Van Gogh, and a lot of other stuff from the collection has been restocked. Various Van Gogh paintings were recreated with Pokemon in them, such as Sunflowers with a smiling Sunflora in the middle. That particular design’s card sleevesare back in stock.

Van Gogh Pikachu Plush

Pikachu has cosplayed as a lot of things in plush form over the years, and you may now add Vincent Van Gogh to that list. Part of Pokemon’s collaboration with Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum which also includes some of the artist’s paintings reimagined with a Pokemon twist.

A playmat featuring all of the artworkcreated for the crossover,a puzzle with Snorlax and Munchlax crashing Van Gogh’s The Bedroom, and so much more is back in stock. Unexpected but welcome, and something Pokemon may have done to mark roughly one year since one of its more unique crossovers debuted.
