Summary

Pokemon developerGame Freakhas been suffering through leaks for the past few days, revealing everything from details about official titles likePokemon Legends: Z-Atostrange stories about Pokemon and humans having children together. Yeah, it’s been pretty wild.

Those leaks are still happening though, and more details about future projects are leaking onto social media almost every day. Today’s big leakseems to concern Gen 10 and its subsequent game, which seemingly confirms various theories that Pokemon fans have had about its setting. Pokemon insider Centro Leaks shared what appears to bea conversation between several key employees at Game Freak, discussing in 2022 how ideas in the Pokemon anime and the setting of Gen 10 may clash.

An employee called Ohmori (presumably longtime Pokemon game designer and director Shigeru Ohmori) mentions the setting for the next Pokemon game has already been decided, and that Game Freak was “planning a game with an island theme after Titan”. From this conversation, we know that Titan was the internal codename forPokemon Scarlet & Violet.

Pokemon Leaks Reveal More Details About Gen 10 Setting

Even before today’s leaks, there was speculation that Pokemon’s next mainline game could be inspired by the likes of Italy or Greece, mostly down toa painting found in a home in Scarlet & Violetthat depicts several houses in a “different region”. Game Freak has been known to include small nods to the next game in the series, and fans have been combing Scarlet & Violet for potential answers.

If this conversation between Game Freak developers is legit (which it most likely is), then those comments back up the theory that Gen 10 will be set in a region inspired by Greece. The country is an archipelago, there hasn’t been a region inspired by it just yet, and the houses in the painting in Scarlet & Violet look quite Grecian in their architecture.

None of this outright confirms the game’s setting, but together they make a pretty strong case. Either way, we have Pokemon Legends: Z-A to come out first, the next major Pokemon title that will be hitting store shelves, though the person behind the Game Freak hackalready claims to have a playable build of the title. They have stated that they won’t release it publicly, presumably to avoid the legal might of Nintendo, but it’s not that unbelievable ifrecent leaks are true in that Pokemon Legends: Z-A was meant to launch in 2024.
