Summary
It’s a new week, which means we have a new set ofPokemonleaks to sort through. A lot of information we’ve got from these leaks so far has related to games that have already been released, such as concept art for Pokemon ORAS, or details regarding games currently in development, like Pokemon Legends: Z-Aandwhatever Gen 10 is titled. We’ve got very little on cancelled Pokemon games so far, but that changed pretty rapidly with this week’s leaks.
Earlier today, several codenames for unannounced Pokemon games were revealed today, along with gameplay, which gave usour first look at a Splatoon-inspired multiplayer game. Splatoon wasn’t the only one of Nintendo’s big properties thatGame Freakturned to for inspiration though, as gameplay was also revealed for a title codenames Project Swallow, a mobile minigame collection in the style ofWarioWare.
A Pokemon Minigame Collection Like WarioWare Was Reportedly Cancelled
Details of this title werefirst shared by Centro Leaks, who has been one of the biggest sources of the recent Pokemon leaks in general. In a new tweet posted to their Twitter account, they share four minigames from this title, all of which look to be very fast-paced yet extremely simple. The first has players stop a rapidly filling and emptying bar at the right level so a giant Machoke has enough power to crack the moon.
A second game has players simply moving lillypads around to find a hiding Poliwag. The third game shared has players presumably tapping their screens when a Great Ball meets the hand of an outstretched arm, while the final minigame has players timing their swing with a baseball bat to get a home run with a Poke Ball flying towards them. They’re all very simple, just like WarioWare, and we can probably surmise that these minigames were meant to be played back to back in rapid succession.
Centro Leaks claims that this minigame collection was ultimately cancelled, though a reason why was not given. We can briefly see a massive cylinder in one of the videos, which would have presumably acted as a minigame selection screen of sorts, so maybe Game Freak struggled to come out with enough minigames that were different enough to warrant a full game? We’ll never know for sure, but it’s yet another piece of Pokemon history for the books.
