Advent calendars are typically associated with the countdown to Christmas, providing you with a little treat to keep you going throughout December. Who decided we can only use them for Christmas, though? The Pokemon Company wants to know the answer to that question too and has bucked the trend by releasinga Halloween advent calendar filled with spooky action figureswaiting to be revealed during the final two weeks before Halloween.
That’s right, even if you are only just learning that Halloween advent calendars are a thing and that there’s one filled withPokemontoys, just because we’re already a week into October, that doesn’t mean it’s too late to get in on the fun. Unlike Christmas advent calendars, Pokemon’s Halloween variant doesn’t start counting down to the spookiest holiday of the year until 13 days before October 31. A little frustrating that it’s not a full 25 days, but fitting considering the connotations that come with the number 13.
Also unlike a traditional advent calendar, Pokemon’s Halloween calendar doesn’t have dates on its doors. It has numbers which means you can technically start your countdown whenever you like, even if it doesn’t perfectly line up with October 31. I won’t tell anyone.
Even thoughthere are only 13 doors, 16 toys are waiting to be discovered -11 Pokemon figures, and five Halloween-themed accessories. Everything included in the calendar is Halloween-themed in some way, although some of the toys aren’t tied quite as tightly to the holiday as others. Pikachu in a witch’s hat and a pumpkin accessory filled with candy, for example, are unequivocally Halloween-themed. Most of the other figures, however, are simply Ghost or Dark-types. More Halloween adjacent, although Pokemon has been making its Ghost-types synonymous with Halloween for decades so everything included with the calendar definitely fits the theme.
Pokemon 2024 Halloween Advent Calendar
The Pokemon Company has decided Halloween deserves an advent calendar as opposed to just Christmas. 2024’s offering has 13 doors with 16 action figures and accessories waiting for you behind them.
There are plenty of traditional advent calendars already available ready for December too, including some Pokemon options. Its most popular each year isPokemon’s TCG calendarwhich has a trading card surprise waiting behind each of its 25 doors. Even though Pokemon releases a new TCG calendar each year, keep a look out for older calendars. They’ll have older cards inside, but they can be used the same as a brand-new calendar if you’re looking to count down to Christmas for less.
