Summary

Of all the 1,025Pokemonintroduced so far, only a select few have had the honor of being turned into a Squishmallow. Just 11 Pokemon have been turned into Squishmallows so far with Fuecoco and Bellibolt the latest additions to the family. The pair have been exclusively available to buy at the Pokemon Center for the last two months, but now both are available on Amazon.

The key difference between buying Squishmallows through the Pokemon Center is the size. The Pokemon Center’s Squishmallows are 12 inches tall, and it’s not until new additions get a wider release that additional sizes become available. Like now, for instance, there are 14 and 20-inch Fuecoco and Bellibolt Squishmallow options on Amazon.

Fuecoco Squishmallow

Fuecoco, the Fire-type starter introduced via Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, has been turned into a Squishmallow. Tied with Bellibolt to become the first Pokemon from Paldea to get the Squishmallow treatment, and it definitely has the frame for it.

Bellibolt Squishmallow

Bellibolt was tied with Fuecoco to become the first Pokemon from Paldea to get its own Squishmallow. Big and round, it’s plain to see why Bellibolt was one of Pokemon’s picks from Gen Nine when selecting its Paldean Squishmallows.

The other key difference between Amazon and the Pokemon Center’s Squishmallows is the lack of the latter’s badge on the former. Fuecoco has its iconic triangular tooth hanging out of its mouth, head frills, and yellow squares down its back. Bellibolt is also delightfully detailed, with its multiple sets of eyes (only one of which is its real eyes), teal coloring, and lightning bolt patterns on its body.

Bellibolt Squishmallow

Fuecoco and Bellibolt’s arrival in the Squishmallow world marked a big leap forward when it comes to Pokemon generations. Most of the Squishmallows to come before them are from Kanto, with a few exceptions in Togepi, Teddiursa, and Piplup. Jumping all the way up to Gen Nine means skipping hundreds of Pokemon. While no one expected Pokemon like Relicanth or Tynamo to get the Squishmallow treatment, it would have been nice to see a Rowlet or Sobble one first. There will be plenty more to come though, and considering the frequency at which new designs are announced, we may even get a glimpse of Pokemon’s next Squishmallows in time for the holidays.
