Summary
There are now more than 1,000Pokemonand aside from needing new ones to fill regions, I’m convinced the main reason The Pokemon Company keeps creating them so it can make more merch. Then again, its latest collection flies right in the face of that theory asits stars are Slowpoke and Slowbro, two Pokemon that have been a part of the series since the very beginning.
Pokejunglehas shared images of everything included in the Slowpoke collection, and some interesting and unique items will be up for grabs very soon. The headliner by quite some way doesn’t feature Slowpoke at all becauseit’s a Slowbro sleeping bag. It’s actually a Slowbro’s shell sleeping bag and technically whoever uses it dons the shell and becomes the Slowbro. It even has teeth around the opening just like the ones that bite onto Slowbro’s tale to keep it in place.
Shockingly, this isn’t the first opportunity Pokemon has provided trainers to sleep inside one of its monsters. In 2020it released a Metapod sleeping bag. No guarantees you’ll turn into a Butterfree when you use it, though.
While the Slowbro shell sleeping bag is the best item in the Slowpoke collection, it’s not the weirdest. That award goes tothe connectible Slowpoke plushes. The toys bite onto each other’s tails to form a long line of Slowpoke, and I’m not entirely sure why. Shellder bites Slowpoke’s tail to make it evolve into Slowbro, and Slowpoke tails drop off in Pokemon lore for people to eat. Perhaps these plushes have mutually agreed to cut out the middle man and eat each other’s tails before their trainers can get to them.

You’re The Slowbro Now
There’s a lot more to Pokemon’s Slowpoke collection than the two items above, but none of it is quite as out there as what we’ve covered up until this point. Slowking and the Galarian forms of the evolutionary line are all represented too, each of them getting their own new plush keychain, there’s alsoa Slowpoke kigurumi outfit with a matching hat. It’s all exclusive to the Japanese Pokemon Center for now, but hopefully it will be released in the US and elsewhere in the future.
It’s great to see Slowpoke and its evolved forms getting so much attention, especially for those of us who can’t affordthe life-size plush added to the Pokemon Centerearlier this year, no matter how much we might want it. The massive Slowpoke is the same size as it appears in the games and should come standard with every house on the planet. However, its $450 price tag means there likely aren’t many homes around the world with a Slowpoke plush big enough to be considered furniture.
