Pokemon Sleephas been tracking us at night and having creatures gather around based on how well we rested for more than a year. It’s actually a lot cuter than I’ve made it sound there, but there has been one problem hanging over Pokemon Sleep since its launch, and that’s the dangers that come with sleeping with your phone plugged in a few inches from your face. That’s no longer a problem if you own a smartwatch.
Pokemon rolled out smartwatch compatibility this weekwhich means if you own a model that’s compatible with the sleep tracking app, you no longer need to pop your phone on your mattress at night and risk it slipping under your pillow and overheating. Pretty much all major smartwatch models are compatible with Pokemon Sleep, but we’ve provided info below so you can make sure whether your watch will work with the app or not.
Fitbit
Once you’ve bought a compatible Smartwatch, some of which are available through the links in the boxes below, or you already own one,you will need to pair it with Pokemon Sleep. Doing so with an Apple Watch requires you topair the watch with Apple’s Health appthrough the Pokemon Sleep app. To pair it with a Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, or Fitbit device you will need to follow a similar processusing the Health Connect app.

Once your watch or device has been paired with Pokemon Sleep, you will be able to use it to track your sleep at night and stop leaving your phone next to you. Tracking your sleep will work a little differently using your watch. Since your phone will be locked, and the app closed, when you open Pokemon Sleep in the morning, there will be an option - either on the title screen or the home screen where you find Snorlax - tosync your previous night’s sleep with the app.

Pokemon Sleep will then communicate with your health app to check how you slept andconvert that data into Sleep data. From that point on it will be the Pokemon Sleep you’re familiar with as Pokemon will gather around you so you can feed them biscuits and bring them back to camp. All of the fun of Pokemon Sleep with none of the risks that come with how you’ve needed to track your sleep for it to function until now.
