Summary

Several updates have been rolled out onPokemon TCG Pockettoday, including one that will get you Poke Gold for less. Even though it’s effectively a Black Friday sale on one of the mobile game’s currencies, the sale is live now and will run for the next nine days, so through Black Friday and most of what has become the biggest sale weekend of the year.

Rather than reduce the price of Pokemon Pocket’s existing bundles, three new options have been added to the app’s store. There’s a $5.99 bundle that gets you 60 Poke Gold, a bundle priced at $14.99 that bags you 114 Gold, and the final Black Friday sale bundle which costs $49.99 and will add 360 Poke Gold to your account to spend on Genetic Apex Packs and Wonder Picks.

For those of you for whom the two packs per day - three packs if you have the Premium Pass - that spend money on the otherwise free-to-play app, the new deals on Gold are pretty good. For comparison, a 50 Poke Gold bundle costs $9.99. However, the new 30 Poke Gold bundle, which actually includes 60 Gold, is only $5.99.

Even If You Don’t Plan On Spending It Right Away, Might As Well Stock Up Now

The Pokemon Company is currently throwing in bonus Gold with its regular packs too. However, it doesn’t appear to be enough to make them worth buying over the Black Friday bundles unless you plan on shelling out for a lot of Gold. The $9.99 50 Poke Gold bundle, for example, actually includes 57 Gold at the moment. A nice bonus, but still less currency for more money over the 30 Gold plus 30 bonus Gold that comes with the limited-time $5.99 bundle.

Kicking off alongside the sale is Pocket’s Fire Pokemon Mass Outbreak Event. For the next week, players should see themed Wonder Picks appear occasionally - either a free pick that includes some common Fire-types, or a Rare Pick made up of more sought-after cards that will cost you three wonder stamina. Some new fire-themed missions have been added to the game too, but early responses to the week-long eventhave been overwhelmingly negative.

Most of the critique of the new event revolves around it being too similar to the ones that have come before it. While there have already been a few events during Pocket’s first month, they’ve all been more or less the same. Bigger changes are coming soon, though. More booster packs will be here before the end of the year, andlimited trading will be introduced in early 2025.
