Frostpunk 2throws you out into a harsh and icy climate, where you must prove yourself as the leader of a struggling city. Along the way, you can play through the main campaign, or test yourself by seeing how long you can survive in the Utopia mode.

There is more than meets the eye in Frostpunk 2 though, and the game can be quite difficult at times. If you are struggling to become the greatest leader that New London has ever seen, we’ve got you covered. Here, we are going to take a look at some of the best pro tips to follow in Frostpunk 2.

7Ask For Money From Factions

At the start of a game, you may not have the most amount of Heatstamps to get things done. Fortunately, you are able to ask a faction to raise funds for you. Looking at the factions in the bottom screen, choose one and then head to the favors tab.

Here, you’re able to choose between raising funds and demanding funds (if you have enough guard squads. By choosing the option to raise funds, you’ll get some Heatstamps at the cost of lowering your relationship with the faction. Thankfully, the relationship loss isn’t too extreme, and you can easily make it up.

6Build Hubs

While placing districts down, you may forget about hubs. These provide a variety of helpful benefits, so it’s a good idea to check out each one and decide if you need it or not. For example, with the heating hub, you can reduce the heat demand of nearby districts.

Another helpful hub is the fuel stockpile. With this, you can stock up on extra fuel which can then be used later when a whiteout occurs, or if you just start to run low on your resources. From the idea tree, you’ll also be able to research new hub types.

5Extract From Infinite Deposits Early

When looking at where to place a district down, you may see an icon with a little infinity sign next to it. These are areas that are extra plentiful and can deliver a near-infinite amount of resources. It’s important to gather from these locations as quickly as you may.

to actually gather the resources that are marked as infinite, you’ll need the Deep Melting Drill. In the campaign, you will unlock this if you choose to defeat the Frost; if you choose to embrace it, you can’t make the drill. Additionally, the drill increases squalor, so you may need to handle lowering this as well.

4Centralize Your Hospitals

Hospitals are essential if you are looking to reduce disease within the city. By upgrading a housing district, you are able to add a hospital in the building slot, but it’s important to centralize your hospitals in order to avoid wasting labor and resources.

By centralize, we mean keep your hospitals within your main city. While you’re able to add them to housing districts in colonies, this isn’t necessary. New citizens come in through your main city, and you can send them to other colonies. As such, you can keep your hospitals centralized, maintain a healthy population, and then distribute the workforce to colonies.

3Maximize Food Production

The least you can do for your citizens is to provide food, right? This is easier said than done, but it’s possible to make small changes here and there to provide more food overall. For example, with the Forged Additives law active, citizens will provide food passively during calm weather.

Another great addition is the Biowaste Hothouse, which increases food output. The downside to this is that disease is greatly increased, but if this doesn’t affect your city too much, then consider adding this building to your city!

2Run Districts Below Maximum Efficiency If Necessary

By default, your districts will run at 100 percent efficiency, but this may not be necessary. By clicking on a district, you will see a sliding bar that you can adjust to be at a lower percentage. When moving the bar back and forth, you can see the demand for certain resources as the top change.

If you are really struggling to provide enough heat (or any other resource), consider lowering the efficiency for something else. For example, if you have an excess of food but are in a heat deficit, you can lower the efficiency of a food district. We suggest pausing the game and playing around with the sliders to find a percentage that works for you.

1Use Several Extraction Zones To Gather From Resource Clumps

Lastly, we suggest using multiple extraction zones to harvest resources that are clumped up on the map. While it may seem the best to have a district cover multiple tiles, this will only boost long-term availability that increases current production, as a zone can only produce a certain amount of goods at a time.

With multiple districts covering resource tiles, you’ll boost the amount of resources produced by the district in the moment, which is important if you are having a shortage of something like food or materials.
