Summary

Happy PS5 Pro andPlayStation30th anniversary collection pre-order day to all who celebrate. Pre-orders for both the new console and everything in the collectionwill open in the US at 10 am EST, and good luck to any of you who plan to join the queue to try and grab something. The thing is, pre-orders have already begun in other parts of the world, and that means scalpers are already doing their thing and trying to take advantage of anyone desperate to own something PlayStation is selling today.

Listings for just about everything included in the anniversary collection have already started to appear on resale sites, including the limited edition PS5 Pro bundle. Not only is the Pro bundle the most expensive item in the collection due to it being a brand new model that comes bundled with all sorts of other stuff, but only 12,300 of them will be sold. Even with all that in mind, the listing asking for $5,500 for the bundle eBay feels very ambitious.

Saying that, I just stumbled across a listing selling the Pro bundle for $10,000 with a note that two people have it in their cart. Aside from the fact that there are Pro bundles listed on eBay right now for less than $3,000, we still don’t actually know how much the anniversary Pro will cost in the US. An educated guess based on the bundle’s price in the UK - it sold out almost immediately, by the way - which was £959likely puts it at around $1,200 in the US.

Scalpers Are Listing Anniversary Bundles For Between $2,600 And $10,000

I’m Going To Need Geoff To Show Me Those Inflation Numbers Again

Suffice to say, even if you’re looking at some of the lower prices being offered by scalpers, the cheapest listings on eBay will have you paying twice as much for the anniversary Pro as you would through PlayStation Direct. At least try to get one for a normal price when pre-orders go live in North America at 10 am EST. The same goes for the PS5 digital bundle, which is alsoalready on eBay for more than $1,000, and the anniversary DualSensewhich is being scalped for close to $200.

While they will likely sell out along with the Pro bundle, the regular anniversary console and the DualSense don’t even have a limited number attached to them. It will be tempting to turn to scalpers if you fail in your attempts to land a pre-order, but try not to succumb to that temptation. Caving to scalpers will just mean the same thing happens the next time a limited edition, sought-after item goes on sale, allowing them to charge inflated prices and for the cycle to start all over again.
