Summary
PlayStationirked quite a few people a couple of weeks ago when it revealedthe PS5 Pro will cost $700. It then seemed to bring everyone back onside by revealing 12,300 of those Pros will be painted grey as an homage to thePS1. The prices of items inPlayStation’s 30th-anniversary collectionhaven’t been confirmed yet, althoughthere are prices out there courtesy of a reliable leaker, but someone is already selling an anniversary PS5 Pro bundle on eBay for $10,000. Well, kind of.
If you’re looking for a way to guarantee you get one of PlayStation’s 12,300 30th anniversary PS5 Pro bundles, this particular eBay listing isn’t the best place to go, and not only because it has been taken down.Spotted by MP1st, the listing wasn’t a scalper guaranteeing anyone willing to part with $10,000 will get the bundle, but that for $1 shy of five figures, they would"attempt to buy" the bundle for youwhen pre-orders for it and the rest of the collection go live on September 26.
In defense of the plucky scalper, the listing was incredibly honest. It said right there in the description that potential customers were effectively paying for them to wait in a queue and that due to the limited availability of the bundle, there wasno guarantee they would get one. What I’m unclear on is whether the customer would have been refunded if the scalper came up empty-handed once all 12,300 bundles had been sold.
$10,000 And Someone Will Try To Buy The Bundle For You
No Guarantee You’ll Actually Get One, Though
Despite the backlash following the PS5 Pro price reveal, it seems very likely the console will sell out fast, particularly the anniversary edition due to its limited availability. While they probably won’t be $10,000, you may guarantee those bundles will start appearing on resale sites shortly after pre-orders open too. PlayStation is going to be charging a lot for them, but it won’t be anything compared to what people will be willing to pay scalpers for them after the bundles have sold out.
The reveal that the PS5 Pro will be digital onlysparked a rush for PlayStation’s detachable disc drive, but despite that rush, the disc drive is still widely available. That didn’t stop scalpers from taking advantage, though. The disc drives are still in stock at GameStop and PlayStation Direct, yet they are already being listed for north of $100 each on eBay. Never resort to scalpers, but particularly not when the item you desperately want is still in stock for its regular price.
