Summary
In case you might’ve missed it, and we sure hope you didn’t, in honor of the 30th anniversary ofPlayStation,Sonyisreleasing several limited-edition consoles and accessories dubbed the “PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection.”
In true anniversary fashion, everything is PS1-themed, and chief among the offerings is a PlayStation 5 Pro Bundle that will have a litany of goodies, including a DualSense Edge and some collectibles, as well as a PS5 Slim Digital Edition with fewer goodies, but the same PS1 branding.
That said, in the wake of Sony’s announcement, many began to speculate about just how much these bundles and accessories would cost, with many projecting them to be sky-high. However, according to a reliable industry insider, at the very least, the PS5 Slim and limited-edition DualSense will be cheaper than anticipated.
Your Wallet Will Still Cry, But Not As Much
As first spotted on ResetEra, insider Billbil-kun, who has leaked several things in the past, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition PS1 bundle will run gamers $499.99 USD, with an estimated cost of 519.99 Euros and 449.99 pounds sterling.
For reference,a regular PS5 Slim Digital can be had for $449.99 USD on PlayStation Direct. This particular bundle not only has the PS1-themed console, but a PS1-themed disc drive cover, the PS5 stand, the limited-edition controller, plus items ranging from themed cable ties to a PlayStation poster, making it serious value.
On its own, that limited-edition controller will run $79.99, or the equivalent in local currency.Recently, Sony introduced a $5 price hike to its existing lineup of DualSense controllers, and it seems like this new snazzyDualSense will fall right in line with those accessories without a further hike.
Of course, what fans really want to know is just how much that PS5 Pro bundle will cost, especially considering that only 12,300 units will be made available for purchase. Or the fact that it hasa litany of items that, on their own, add up to one hefty price.
Still, should these prices come to pass, it could signal that the bundle won’t be nearly as expensive. Then again, stranger things have happened in the world of pricing.
