Summary
Razer launched a couple of Gengar-themed PC accessoriesover the summer and as good-looking as they were, it was a third unannounced accessory lurking in the background thatPokemonfans wanted to know more about. A Gengar headset that makes it look like you have the Ghost-types ears. Three months later, Razer has finally confirmed it’s real, but its official reveal comes with good news and bad news.
The bad news is just like the Gengar mouse and mat,Razer’s latest Pokemon products are only available in China. The good news is in the post officially showing off the headset for the first time, Razer has asked where it should release the Gengar headset next. Not a case of whether it should be released elsewhere, but where. Considering the buzz it generated on social media when it was teased, and the repeat of that following its reveal, I can’t imagine this will be a China-exclusive product for long.
A Gengar version ofRazer’s Kraken Kitty V2 headset, the accessory is the same shade of purple as the popular Ghost-type with slightly lighter purple accents throughout its design. Not only does it give you pointy ears, just like similarly-designed cat ear headsets, but you’ll also be sporting a little Gengar quiff whenever you wear it.
Razer’s Gengar Headset Is Real, But It’s Only Available In China
Let Razer Know We Need This To Be Available Everywhere
Even though Razer’s Gengar headset is exclusively available in China for now, there are ways to get it in the US and elsewhere, it’s just going to cost you. Listings for the headsethave already started to appear on eBay, but getting it shipped from China combined with the demand for the product means you will have to pay at least $200 if you want the headset from a resale site. Listings for the headset areslightly cheaper on AliExpress, but not by much.
Unless you’re prepared to pay through the nose for the headset, you’ll just have to trust Razer really does intend on releasing it in other parts of the world in the, hopefully near, future. The three-month gap between its tease and its release in China doesn’t paint a promising picture in that regard, but you never know.
It’s a shame most of us won’t have Gengar ear headsets to wear in time for Halloween, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all celebrate what is objectively the best Pokemon this spooky season.Pokemon’s 2024 Halloween rangenaturally has lots of stuff starring Gengar including a sweater, a pumpkin mug, and Gengar string lights.
