Summary
Finally, after 14 years of waiting,Red Dead Redemption,Rockstar Games’epic outlaw adventure, will be making its way toPC. Thegaming industry’s worst-kept secretwas finally announced earlier this week, and it won’t be long before the game is available to play,as it’s set for an October 29 release.
That said, while fans have been waiting well over a decade to play Red Dead Redemption on a PC, once many of them saw the game’s price, they will happily wait even longer. As it stands, Red Dead Redemption will run gamers $49.99 USD, or their local equivalent.
It’s a hefty price for a rather old game, one that PS4 gamers also took issue with when the game was re-released on Sony’s console last year. For what it’s worth, the package will come with Undead Nightmare, and with it being on PC, it’ll boast features, including “native 4K resolution at up to 144hz on compatible hardware and monitor support for both Ultrawide (21:9) and Super Ultrawide (32:9),” among other features.
Still, that hasn’t stopped fans from voicing their thoughts.
A Sale Is A Must For Many Fans
Taking to the Red Dead subreddit, many were quick to voice their displeasure. “Yeah, i would pay full price for the full game, multiplayer included, 14 years ago,“one user wrote, noting the long wait fans have had to endure.
“Clearly none of you paid attention to the console release last year if you were expecting anything different,“another user said. Indeed, Red Dead did launch at a near full-price last year, though, there was hope that Rockstar would’ve learned from that mistake.
Meanwhile, another user is taking the smart approach of waiting for a sale. “Since it’s a game I’ve already played, I’ll just wait for a good sale. No rush, especially since there’s basically no changes from the original,” they wrote.
Of course, Reddit represents all but a small portion of the larger gaming community, but it is interesting to see so many people upset with a near full-price game. It’ll be fascinating to see what the SteamDB charts say when this game does launch, and whether the power of nostalgia and a long wait will ultimately win out.
