Summary

You can either love it or hate it, butRedditis incredibly important to the internet. It’s a place where loads of communities get together to share their common love for something, and where else will you get your incredibly niche Minecraft trailer breakdowns from? That means when it goes down, you can almost guarantee there will be a wave of angry people upset that their afternoon scrolling has been halted. That’s exactly what’s happening at the moment.

For the past few minutes, Reddit has been completely inaccessible, with a blank white screen and a line of text describing greeting anyone that tries to log in as normal.Almost 80,000 Reddit outages have been reported, with that number growing every minute, as it seems like the issues are worldwide. Thankfully, Reddit has already clarified via the Reddit Status Twitter account thatit is aware of the issues and is currently investigating.

Reddit Is Investigating “Degraded Performance” Problems

Unfortunately, we have no idea how long this problem will last, even though Reddit is investigating. Thankfully, we can look at past problems via the official Reddit Status website to get a decent indicator.By checking past incidents, we can see that the last time Reddit saw issues was on November 6, earlier this month, as the site was affected by the same “degraded performance” problems it’s dealing with now.

Dig a little deeper, and you can see that Reddit started investigating the issues on November 5 at 20:07PT, and identified the problem in just under 40 minutes. Fixes were then implemented over the next six hours, restoring the site partially, while the issue was completely resolved at 5am PT on November 6. Of course, we don’t know if the scale of the problem is the same, but you’re best off just assuming these current problems will be fixed in a similar time frame.

At least we can use this time away from Reddit to give ourselves a brief respite fromThe Game Awardsdrama, which has been a huge talking point over the past few days, ever sincewe found out Shadow of the Erdtree was nominated for Game of the Year. Social media have been filled witharguments over who was snubbed, who deserves their place, and so on, with Reddit being no exception. Let’s use this time to touch some grass, calm down, and realize that Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth definitely deserved a place over Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
