Summary

Robloxhas the ability to make a very small percentage of its players pretty wealthy. In fact,Roblox has been accused in the past of exploiting its usersby dangling the prospect of making money in front of children, something which the company itself has strongly denied. Despite that, it’s still possible to make a substantial amount of money from the platform thanks to the Roblox Developer Exchange Program, which lets players trade in Robux for real cash.

Robux can be earned in a number of ways, such as through selling avatar items on the Marketplace, and these items can be very expensive and lucrative depending on their availability. That’s why a Roblox player is threatening to sue the company over his accounts that were banned when he was 12 years old, claiming the value of these accounts is now “well over a million dollars.”

On Twitter earlier this week, a Roblox player called Jared Valdezissued a “formal notice” to Roblox CEO David Baszucki, threatening “legal action” if the account ‘Jaredvaldez4’ isn’t reinstated. Valdez claims that this and other accounts he owned when he was 12 are now valued at over a million dollars, sitting at an RAP value of just over 7 million.

Roblox Fan Threatens To Sue Over “Million Dollar” Banned Accounts

If you’ve been a Roblox fan for a long time, chances are you’ll remember the name Jared Valdez. He was an infamous figure in the Roblox community several years ago -enough to have his own wiki page at the very least- accused of plagiarizing a number of popular levels. His accounts were banned by Roblox for a number of infractions, ranging from repurposing content for third-party sites, to selling and buying limited items with real currency.

Valdez is very unlikely to actually get a response from Roblox or Baszucki because of this, and any attempted legal action would more than likely fail before it began. Valdez almost certainly broke the game’s TOS on multiple occasions to have so many accounts banned, and his proven plagiarism of Roblox levels won’t help his cause.

As for his claims that his accounts are worth “over a million dollars,” many people have pointed out that the limiteds that make up the majority of the account’s value can’t actually be converted into real cash.Roblox doesn’t allow people to exchange Robux for real money if it was made by selling limited items, so this whole endeavor seems doomed from the outset. That probably isn’t going to stop Valdez from trying though.
