InLife is Strange: Double Exposure’s third chapter, Max Caulfield has discovered that a student named Maya Okada may somehow be linked to the mystery of Safi’s death. Throughout this episode, Max is intent on tracking down any lead that can reveal the details of their relationship.

One of those leads… uh… leads Max to Yasmin, Safi’s mother and the president of Caledon University. While speaking with her in the Fine Arts Building’s cafe in the Living World, Yasmin lies to you, saying that Safi didn’t even know Maya. This lie offers Max a choice: confront Yasmin or play along.

Should You Confront Yasmin Or Play Along With Her Story?

This seems like a potentially big choice. Yasmin is Safi’s mom, after all, and this is a question about her best friend’s suicide. But, in reality, it doesn’t have as much impact as you might expect. So don’t sweat it if you choose “wrong.” Either way, you’ll get to see a slightly different side of Yasmin.

If you play along, Yasmin will offhandedly say that she thoughtVinh’s statementhad settled this matter. What statement, you might ask? More on that in a second. She also will ask Max to keep an eye on Safi.

If you confront her, Yasmin will get angry and call Max ungrateful. But she will still let the information about Vinh slip, with a little less detail. If you press, you’re able to get a little more character detail from Yasmin, with her saying that her handling of the Maya Okada situation was an effort to shield Safi from the same scrutiny she faced as an Arab single mother.

In both cases, regardless of which you choose,Max will text Mosesas soon as the conversation with Yasmin is over. Moses will send over Vinh’s statement, and the story will continue on with little change. Mostly…

To get into how, exactly, this scene can affect the game, we need to get into spoiler territory. If you don’t want to learn any details about how the game ends, leave now.

At the end of the game, Yasmin can either stay on as Caledon’s president or resign. We noticed that,in a timeline where we had called Yasmin out, she chose to resign. And, in a different playthrough, where wewent along with her story, she stayed on as president.

This result may not directly stem from this specific choice, but we want to at least present the correlation.
