Summary

TheSilent Hill 2remake has, like clockwork, stirred up controversy for being “woke”. One of the biggest pieces of evidence to that point is a neon sign in a strip club that people are upset at for being “bodypositive”, even claiming it was ‘changed’ due to a “fetish for pregnancy”. That same sign was in the original.

It was first brought to the ‘anti-woke’ crowd’s attention by anow-deleted post on the “Kotaku in Action” subreddit, which then went viral on social media as Twitter users like former Blizzard Entertainment producer Mark ‘Grummz’ Ken shared it with the same sneering anger.

Silent Hill 2 reddit post angry at a neon sign in a strip club

Even the Kotaku in Action forum dubbed this backlash “bullsh*t”, removing the post as the “Sign had the same shape in the original.”

Commenters doubled down despite being told that this isn’t new to the remake, saying that the original “has a significantly flatter stomach” and that the new one — which is the same, just in a slightly different pose — looks “fat or pregnant”. As you can see for yourself in the picture below, that’s blatantly untrue.

Gamers Are Also Angry At Angela’s Design

Commenters said that the remake is “infested with woke garbage” and that the developers have “serious mental issues”, and it’s not just strip club signs that look the exact same as they did 20 years ago causing such a reaction.

They’re also mad that Angela Orosco, a 19-year-old survivor of sexual abuse, isn’t hot enough. YouTubers such as HeelvsBabyface have described her as “Mangula”, while tweets have gone viralblaming “DEI consulting companies"for “butchering” her design.

Combined with the strip club sign and a comment Konami made earlier this year that it wants to adapt Silent Hill 2 “for modern audiences”, many of these outraged gamers are swearing the remake off entirely, with Steam curators even listing the game as “Not Recommended” due to its ‘woke’ content. There’s always the original… with the same sign.
