Summary
Silent Hill 2 Remakeis absolutely chock-full of neat little secrets for fans to discover, as it seems that the folks at Bloober Team have a massive amount of love for the series as a whole. Not only does Silent Hill 2 Remake clear up questions that have plagued the community for quite some time, such as the location of Silent Hill itselfandthe location of James' wife Mary, but it also includes little nods to other games in the series.
It turns out that people are still finding them too, asa Twitter user called Demomorgrecently shared their discovery of a nod to one of the main characters of Silent Hill 3. In Demomorg’s tweet, they shared an image of a chair with a black hat on it that can be found while exploring a motel called Jack’s Inn with Maria. If you’re a fan of the series, or maybe just Silent Hill 3 in particular, that hat should be very familiar to you.
Silent Hill 2 Remake Includes A Reference To A Silent Hill 3 Character
That’s because it most likely belongs to Douglas Cartland, the private detective who is hired by Claudia Wolf to bring protagonist Heather Mason back to the town of Silent Hill. In the game, Douglas Cartland wears the most typical detective attire you’re able to imagine, complete with a black hat with distinctive trim. It’s this hat that rests on the top of a chair in Jack’s Inn.
As for what the hat is actually doing there, Douglas Cartland and Heather Mason briefly stay in that exact motel room when the duo eventually arrive back at Silent Hill. They don’t stay there for very long, but it’s a nice little nod for those that have played Silent Hill 3. It could also imply that Silent Hill 2 takes place after Silent Hill 3, as the timeline of events between the first three games in the series has never really been confirmed. Either that, or we’re reading into things too much.
Then again, you can’t really blame us for reading too much into a game like Silent Hill 2 of all games. You also have comments from Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno to consider too, who claimed before the game’s release thatfans shouldn’t expect Silent Hill 2 Remake to be the end of the studio’s relationship with Konami. So, could this hat be a little nod, or could it possibly be a hint to Bloober Team’s next project?
