Timed Exclusivity Has Varied In The Past
Long-time gamers might recall back in the day thatRise of the Tomb Raider, the sequel to theTomb Raiderreboot title, was originally a timedXboxexclusive. After roughly a year of exclusivity, it made its way toPS4viathe 20-Year Celebration edition, which bundled some extra goodies.
That could potentially be the case when Silent Hill 2 Remake does make its way to Xbox down the line.
But timed exclusivity can also be shorter than that.Indiana Jones and the Great Circledirectly falls into that camp. At Gamescom Opening Night Live,it was revealed that the once-Xbox exclusive will be making its way to PS5 during Spring 2025, which won’t be too long from the game’s December 9 release.
Meanwhile, a game likeFinal Fantasy 7 Remakeseems to be in a perpetual waiting period when it comes to exclusivity. Though, that might be changing soonas Xbox has a presentation at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, andit’s been rumored that Final Fantasy will play a key role.
Timed exclusivity is never a fun thing for the opposite side, but it’s good to know that it’s only a year’s wait. And based off previous ports, that year could be worth waiting for, especially if it comes with some added goodies, plus inevitable patches.
