As spotted online, the Wikipedia page for Silent Hill 2 Remake is being repeatedly vandalised, as users edit the page to lower the review scores. The scores are being changed to be as low as 0/10 from some outlets, despite the fact that the sites they link to actually gave the game high scores.
People Are Pretending Silent Hill 2 Remake Reviewed Poorly, For Some Reason
The Wikipedia page has since been given semi-protection status, meaning it can’t be edited by unregistered users. It’s easy to see why, as the logs show multiple users adding bizarre and completely false edits to the page when the reviews started coming in.
One edit claims that the game “received the worst reviews imaginable from critics”, something which is very much not grounded in reality. The same editor changed all of the review scores to a zero. Another says it received “overwhelmingly negative” reviews, and is “considered to be the worst remake ever and worst game of 2024 thus far.”
As highlighted by Twitter user @airbagged, this likely stems from the remakefinding itself at the centre of “woke” discoursewhen thenew models for certain characters were revealed. For some, it boiled down to a character not being hot enough, as these things always tend to.
In any case, it looks like most people are actually pleased with the remake. On Steam, it’s opened to overwhelmingly positive reviews - quite the comeback after trailers and early gameplay footageleft many fearful that it would miss the mark.
