InSlitterhead, you play as an enigmatic spirit who is named the “Night Owl” by Julee. We don’t know much about their past, who they are, or even if they are a spirit. They might be an alien! However, you can find out more about the Night Owl throughout the game not just by progressing the story, but also through optional memory fragments.
These collectibles (which also net you Skill Points to upgrade your Rarity abilities) are dotted across 12 of the game’s levels, and range from blindingly obvious to frustratingly difficult to find. But don’t worry! We’ve found all 36 and broken down exactly where they are so that you can piece together the Night Owl’s past for yourself.
Lurking Parasite RE (2nd Loop)
Hyoki Memory Fragment 1
Immediately upon starting the level,turn around and follow the alley behind youuntil youreach an alcovewith the memory fragment at the back.
Hyoki Memory Fragment 2
Exit onto main streetandtake the first leftinto the back alley.
Possess an NPC through the gateto your right andturn left at the immediate junction.
The memory fragment will be in front of the fence blocking your path. Possess an NPC on the other side to reach it.
Hyoki Memory Fragment 3
Head back to main streetandclimb the neon signs up to a clothing lineon the left side. This leads to a rooftop.
Follow the path forward past the dumpsterto an open courtyard andtake a right.
Climb up to the next rooftopand follow the path until you reach a dead end.
Possess the NPC on the rooftop in front of you, turn around, and continue in a straight line until you reach the memory fragment.
Over Limit
After fighting the Slitterheadand being prompted to “Chase the mysterious woman”,turn around onto main streetandclimb up the neon signs.
Head towards the vertical green “Dawn” signandpossess the NPC on the nearby rooftopto enter the courtyard.
In a little shack by the edge, you’ll find the first memory fragment.
Climb back onto the neon signsand head in the other direction towards thevertical green sign with a golden crownon top.
From the sign,look at the adjacent rooftopandpossess the NPC to your leftto enter the shantytown.
Follow the path forwarduntil you reach a courtyard.Turn rightfrom here,drop down onto the lower rooftop,and in the corner you’ll find the memory fragment.
Return to main streetandhead towards the end of the road, under the “Dawn” green sign.To the right, you’ll see a doglooking at a path blocked by rubble.
Possess the dogandcrawl under the rubble. Follow the scent (marked by a flowing red path) until youreach a shrine.
Interact with the shrine if you want the cosmetic reward, otherwisetake a left down the alley and then turn right.You’ll see the memory fragment in the distance.
Oppressive Force RE (2nd Loop)
After fighting Yin Yue, you’ll see the first memory fragment directly in front of you. Simply jump down and interract with it.
After chasing Yin Yue along the bridge, he will jump onto a rooftop. Instead of following suit,turn around and climb towards the the tall green neon signwith a crown atop it.
To your right,you’ll see the memory fragment.
While chasing Yin Yue along the rooftops, you’ll reach a wide open courtyard. The memory fragment is directly to your left in a little shaft.
Black Payback REV (Mirror)
Don’t head to the scene of the accident just yet.Turn around and jump up to the clothing line instead.
To your right,you’ll see an alcove on the rooftop with a memory fragment.
Jump back down to the alleywayand follow it away from the objective until youreach a footpath bridge.
Climb on topandlook towards the second bridgefurtherdown the road.
On theright of this bridge, by the Noodle House sign, you’ll see the memory fragment.
Drop downfrom the bridge and look for astaircase to your left. Walk up the stairs andturn left again.
Climb onto the rooftop below the Great Northern Hostel sign,and you’ll be face-to-face with the memory fragment.
Sleepless Zone RE (2nd Loop)
After fighting the strangely phallic monster,head upstairs into the corridors lit up in red.
Walk through the squishy pile of corpses,fight another phallic monster, andto your rightyou’ll see an open room lit up in yellow by a memory fragment.
Later on, after fighting two Slitterhead grunts and heading upstairs to fight a third, you’ll seea lattice fence with a memory fragment on the other side.
Use possessionto go through the fence and find an NPC you can control to interact with it.
During the chase with the boss,you’ll run into a scaffolding ramp. Before heading up it,turn around to see the memory fragmentbehind you.
Hidden Cave RE (2nd Loop)
Enter the building and continue until you trigger a cutscene.Wait for the guard to turn his backand thenenter the church through the double doors to your left.
Wait for the guard to turn his back again,so that you can exit the church.Follow the path leftuntil you reach the memory fragment.
Right before you confront the Slitterhead infiltrator, you’ll see the memory fragment directly ahead.
As you sneak along the third floor, you’ll see the memory fragment directly ahead on the balcony.
Ghost Family RE RE (3rd Loop)
Immediately after starting the mission,turn around and head up the stairs.
Follow the alleywayuntil you see a path to the right.
Enter the small alcoveand you’ll see anopen doorway leading into a building.
Go inside, head upstairs, and you’ll see the memory fragment.
Head back to the start of the mission, only instead of confronting the doctor, take the stairs down tothe courtyard lit up in red.
To your right, directly ahead, you’ll see a large openingnext to a closed store.Head through this opening,down a small flight of stairs,turn right,andcontinue straight forward(do not take the second right).
Take the next right(past a bright grey wall with Kanjii lettering on it) andhead forward until you enter a building.
Follow the path through this buildinguntil you reach the slums.Turn left to find a well.
Interract with the welland you’ll descend into it.
At the bottom, you’ll find the memory fragment above a desk.
After fighting Julee and the Slitterhead, you’ll get the objective “Chase the daughter.” You can see her waiting for you in the middle of the rooftop area.
Instead of going towards the daughter,walk around the rooftops circling herwhilelooking downand you’ll spot the last fragment.Jump down to inspect it(you won’t die).
Ghost Family REV (Mirror)
Immediately turn around and follow the path behind you. It leads straight to the memory fragment in a building, up some stairs.
Play through the mission untila cutscene shows Alex lurking on the rooftops.
Instead of following,head up the stairs and look to the right to find the memory fragment.
Don’t pursue Alex onto the rooftop just yet.Head back to main streetand climb along the neon signs above until you reachthe Noodle House sign.
Turn rightand you’ll see the memory fragment on the adjacent rooftop.
Missing Girl RE (2nd Loop)
Immediately after starting the mission,look to the tall building on your right.Enter possession mode andtake control of the NPC at the top
Operate the crane next to them to trigger a cutscene which moves a platform.
Jump to the platformand thenenter possession mode to take control of the NPC on the rooftopof Club Moonflower.
Look across the roof to see the memory fragment directly ahead.Simply climb over to it.
As youfollow the echoes of Anita, you’ll come across this memory fragment in an open shopping area.
It’s easy enough to spot, but after interacting with it, you’ll trigger a surprise Slitterhead attack.
Continue following Anita’s echoesuntil you reach the alleyway pictured above.Climb up to the clothing lineand you’ll see the memory fragment onthe adjacent balcony.
Jar Of Poison RE (2nd Loop)
After talking to the couple by the dining room,turn right and head upstairs into the seating area.
Take the corridor left of the shrineand you’ll see the memory fragment around the corner.
Head downstairstowards the objective, but don’t follow the blood trail yet.
Instead,turn into the right corridor past the two bulletin boards.
Around the corner, you’ll see the memory fragment directly ahead behind a window.
Simply head into the room and interact with the memory fragment.
After following the blood trail and fighting two Slitterhead grunts, you’ll enter a new region of the complex. Fight off another Slitterhead grunt and his phallic friends, thenhead up the stairs directly ahead.
Fight off a few more monsters and thenturn left past the windows.
Follow this path into a large open room filled with pots where you’ll see the memory fragment.
Bind Break
After chasing the Slitterhead to a pile of corpses,turn left towards the stairsandclimb up the signs to the clothing line.
From the clothing line,possess your way to the top balcony.
In the middle of the balcony, you’ll find the memory fragment.
Head to main streetand go through the market stalls until you reach the end of the level, which is conveniently blocked off by some well-placed carts.
Turn right and follow the roaduntil you seea clothing linenext to a balcony. Leap up to it.
On your left, you’ll see the memory fragment.
Go back to the centre of the marketplaceon main street andlook for a narrow staircase to the side.
Follow that path and you’ll see somewide-open double doors straight ahead.Go through them.
Follow the path until you see the metal fencepictured above. Enter possession mode and take control of the NPC on the other side.
Insidious Sucker RE (2nd Loop)
From the starting square,turn right and head towards the alleywith the Mysterious Old Lady.
Follow this pathuntil you reach a memory fragment surrounded by plants.
After thetimed, five minute fight,lookstraight aheadand you’ll see the memory fragment.
Simplyclimb up the market stallto reach it.
When you reach the “Chase the Slitterhead in the white suit” objective, climb up the signs on main street towardsthe Noodle House sign.
Jump to therooftop on your rightand you’ll seea shantytown that you can climb to.
Simplyfollow the path through the rooftop townandtake a left at the endto find the fragment.
