Summary

Paramount has released character posters forSonic the Hedgehog 3with a month to go until it hits cinemas. Not just Sonic, Knuckles, and the other main characters, but posters for every recognizable character from the first two movies and the big ones joining the cast in film number three. That includes Maddie, and Sonic fans think the outfit she’s wearing in the post has confirmed which character from the Blue Blur’s past will be debuting on the big screen next.

So far, Sega and Paramount have introduced a classic Sonic character during the credits of each film. Tails emerged from a portal at the end of the first movie, and then Shadow was shown on the ARK during Sonic 2’s mid-credits scene. The trilogy’s director Jeff Fowler has alreadyconfirmed that tradition will continue in Sonic 3, and according to some fans, Maddie’s outfit has foreshadowed the next character in all three films.

Maddie is wearing a pink sweater in her Sonic 3 poster, and it didn’t take long for fans to start piecing the theory together. In the first Sonic movie, Maddie is wearing a yellow top and at the end of the film, Tails turns up. Tenuous dots to connect, but there’s more. In Sonic 2, Maddie is wearing a similar top except this time it’s red and she’s paired it with a black jacket. Shadow is red and black and appeared in the credits for Sonic 2, and that’s the basis for this new theory being led byMationMisson Twitter.

Sonic 3’s New Posters Have Sparked An Amy Theory

Yellow For Tails, Red And Black For Shadow, Pink For Amy

If you’ve not already pieced this together, the assumption here is that Maddie’s poster, and seemingly the outfit she’ll be wearing for at least some of Sonic 3, is foreshadowing the arrival of Amy during Sonic 3’s credits. Amy is the best-known Sonic character that hasn’t made an appearance in the movies yet, and since there’s going to be at least one more character is going to be introduced in the next film, that character will likely be Amy, even without the Maddie’s outfit theory.

Sharing the tweet above sparked a debate in the work Slack over the color of the sweater. Some of my colleagues are convinced it’s purple, not pink. Maybe we’re getting Big the Cat rather than Amy.

WithSonic x Shadow Generationsnow in the rearview mirror, it’s full steam ahead to Sonic 3’s cinematic arrival on Jul 07, 2025. The first Sonic movie raked in $320 million and the box office, and the superior Sonic 2 bettered that, making $405 million. Sega and Paramount will be hoping the threequel outdoes the sequel. If it can top $450 million, it will surpass Detective Pikachu to become the second highest-grossing video game movie ever. No prizes for guessing who’s number one. Yeah, it’s-a that guy.
