Summary
In case you missed it,Days Goneis back in the public discourse for the first time in a long time. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you see things, it has nothing to do with a sequel game or a live-action adaptation.
Instead, Days Gone became a topic of discussion once moreafter its ex-director, John Garvin, took to social media to criticize the game’s protagonist, Deacon St. John, for being in Team Asobi’s Astro Bot. Garvin called it “sad,” andeven went as far as to criticize his former studio for failing to protect its legacy.
That wasn’t it, either. Becausein a follow-up Tweet, Garvin asserted that Deacon became a “cartoon schill” for a “small game.” However, not everyone at Bend or involved with Days Gone shared the same mindset as Garvin.
Stop Being Salty, And Celebrate Fun!
Taking to Twitter, Bend Studio’s official account shared a cute photo of the Deacon Bot with a caption detailing how much fun the studio has had going through the recently released platformer.
The Tweet, of course, doesn’t reference Garvin by name, nor does it respond directly to his accusations, though it’s plenty clear that Bend is distancing itself further from Garvin’s words. And they’re not the only entity related to Days Gone who’ve shared thoughts on social media.
Indeed, Garvin’s co-director, Jeff Ross, also took to Twitter to share his positivity when it comes to Deacon in another game.
And that same positivity was also on display from Sam Witwer, the voice and likeness behind Deacon. Witwercalled the cameo “great,“and shared thathe would buy Astro Bot because of it.
It’s no surprise that everyone but Garvin has enjoyed Deacon in Astro Bot. After all, the game is meant to celebrate PlayStation’s legacy, both past, present and future, of which Days Gone is certainly part of.
