Summary
Warhammer 40,000is a pretty big franchise that’s been going on for a long time. That means it has a lot of lore that future products need to take into account, whether they be books, movies, or video games.Space Marine 2has been pretty careful to adhere to the franchise’s established canon, but it looks as though there’s one aspect that developer Saber Interactive firmly disagrees with.
When it comes to the scale of certain things in Warhammer, the franchise can be quite inconsistent. Nowhere is that more obvious than in the Emperor Titans, the gigantic mechs deployed by the Titan Legions of the Adeptus Mechanicus. These great metal monstrosities have come in many sizes across official Warhammer projects, ranging from as small as 43 meters to as big as 140 meters tall.
It’s been a source of debate for quite some time, though Space Marine 2 seems to have decided to do away with all that and make the Emperor Titans look as massive and imposing as they probably should be.First shared by Reddit user AzraelAotB on the Warhammer 40,000 subreddit, players can find what looks to be a broken down and abandoned Imperator-class Titanin the Reliquary Operation mission.
Space Marine 2’s Emperor Titan Goes Against Official Lore
From the screenshot that AzraelAotB shares, you’re able to see that this massive machine is very clearly bigger than even the tallest projected Titans in Warhammer canon, given that it’s almost as big as the mountain it’s next to, and it’s kneeling down. You can’t quite see how big it is from this screenshot alone though, which is why a player called The Reaper managed to measure its model andshare their findings in a forum thread on the website SpaceBattles.
In the post, The Reaper explains that they managed to extract the model for the Emperor Titan, despite it being so large that it kept crashing their tools, and found that it’s actually a little over an entire kilometer tall (1025 meters specifically). They even place an average Intercessor (2.5 meters) next to it for scale and the poor guy is just invisible next to the Emperor Titan.
Given that the tallest Titan we have at the moment in the official Warhammer 40,000 canon is 140 meters, it’s safe to say that Space Marine 2 isn’t having any of that nonsense. Then again, this is also a game in whichSpace Marines can accidentally bring Tyranids back to the Battle Barge, so maybe we shouldn’t take the contents of the game too seriously.
