Specter’s Abyss is the first storyline dungeon inThrone And Liberty, accessed when you reach level 20 and 600 gear score. It’s the first of many dungeons in the game and the first actual test of your skill, party composition, and gear score.

The dungeon is divided into three stages with three boss fights, scaling in difficulty. This guide will cover what you should have before you head into the dungeon, how to defeat the boss in each section of the dungeon, as well as a detailed boss guide for Helibel - the final boss of the dungeon.

Prep For Specter’s Abyss

Specter’s Abyss requires you to reach level 20 and an overall gear score of 600. you’re able to increase your level by following the main storyline and completing side quests, whereas gear score is achieved by leveling up your gear and skills. You can start bycrafting Uncommon armor, then you can enhanceUncommon armoras a cheap way to raise your gear score, and spend those skill books on improving the main skills you’re using for your build.

Party Composition

This is a classic MMO, which meansyou do actually need a tank and a healer, even at this early stage of the game.

You’ll take a lot of damage from some of the telegraphed attacks in the dungeon, and a healer will keep your party healthy.Likewise, atank is essentialfor making some of the mechanics in the dungeon much easier.

Throne And Liberty (10)

You can use the party finder to find an appropriate party. If you’ve already got some friends, try to divide the roles between your party.

You should also have collected a variety of potions and attack boosts while playing the game - don’t bother saving them for later, use them in the dungeon - particularly if you’re struggling to do enough damage.

Dungeon Walkthrough

You’ll find various Arkeum Legion mobs throughout the dungeon, includingArchers, Wizards, and Knights. You’ll also find Moonstone resources you can collect throughout the dungeon, although only one player can collect these at a time.

There are three boss battles in the Specter’s Abyss.

Elite Arkeum Shadowmancer

This is the first elite-level mob you’ll encounter in the dungeon. She’s fortunately not too difficult to defeat, but rather serves as an introduction to some telegraphed mechanics in the game - primarily her stun, her AoE attacks, and her teleportation.

Now this is where things get a little more difficult.

The Elite Arkeum Riot Squad Captain is a trickier boss fight as it has a large AoE mechanic that will wipe your squad if you’re not careful.

Here’s how to defeat him:

When the Elite Arkeum Captain shouts “Die!” and a blue shield spawns around him, you do as much damage as you can to break the shield. Once the shield is broken, a player in your partyneeds to stun the Captain before he can carry out his large attack.

This is basically a DPS check. Save your debuffs and powerful attacks for when the Captain’s blue shield spawns. Although it tells you the damage is being ‘Absorbed’, you still need to do as much damage as you can in this window.

Throne And Liberty (9)

Once you’ve mastered this rotation, the boss fight becomes much easier. There are a few telegraphed attacks that can be dodged with ease, and as long as the healer and the tank know what they’re doing, you should be fine.

Helibel Boss Fight

This is the first properly difficult fight in Throne And Liberty.

The key mechanic is Helibel’s Mark, wherein the boss marks a player in your party with ablack circle.

All players must stand around the player marked with the black circle in time to absorb the damage from Helibel’s scythe attack.

If all players don’t stand in the circle, the targeted player takes more damage. When everyone is stood in a circle, you may completely negate or significantly reduce the incoming damage.

That being said, you also need to ensure you aretiming your defend/parry (Q on PC) when Helibel does his large AoE attack. This can deal a lot of damage, often more than a healer can cope with for the entire party.

Helibel also has ateleport attackwhich is quite devastating if he launches himself onto the squishy back line of healers/ranged characters.

The tank should be ready totaunt Helibel after his teleport attack. This will draw his focus and prevent him from attacking other players. Healers should focus on the main tank.
