Summary
New footage of whatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, the 2023 sequel to the originalMarvel’s Spider-Man, could have looked like has surfaced online.
As first spotted in the Spider-Man subreddit, it appears that “Double Finishers” were planned at some point before being scrapped altogether. The gameplay snippet, which lasts under 20 seconds, showcases Spider-Man using his webbing to throw one foe into another, as well as another kicking two enemies.

The gameplay element is clearly unfinished as there is a fair amount of jitter to it, but it does show an element that could’ve been. Still, it’s slightly disappointing that it didn’t make it to the final product. Double finishers would’ve undoubtedly given the combat a much-needed refresh.
Spider-Man 2 Could’ve Probably Used More Time
When Spider-Man 2 launched, it wasn’t necessarily a critical hit. That’s not to say the game didn’t play well or review well, because it did,but it was a rather safe sequel.
Over time, and as a result of the Insomniac leak, it seems like Spider-Man 2 could’ve used a bit more time in the oven. But it would appear that the game’s enormous cost forcedInsomniacandPlayStationto scrap some elements to get the game across the finish line.
Previously, Kotaku reported that the game had a $300 million final cost, which is apparently three times the cost of the first Spider-Man title. What’s more is that $300 million is actually $30 million over budget. Per the report, the game would need to sell at minimum 7.2 million copies to break even.
To this point, things on the Spider-Man 2 side have been fairly quiet.Fans of the game were disappointed to find that there was no information about leaked DLC or the Venom game during PlayStation’s most recent State of Play. Elsewhere, fans are still waiting for a pack of costumes to be made free for all.
